∎ Masters in Economics, Anthropology, Development studies, Geography and Environmental Science, or any subject of Social Science disciplines.

∎ Candidates should demonstrate knowledge in planning, budgeting, financial management, staff management and report writing along with monitoring and evaluation skills.·
∎ A strong understanding of human rights, climate-induced human rights violations, climate change, environmental degradation, gender, and human rights-based project dynamics is essential.·
∎ Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Bengali are required.·
∎ Computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet applications.·
∎ Experience in networking, collaborating with local administration and national networks,·
∎ Having a motorbike driving license, is mandatory.·
∎ The candidate should be willing to stay in Morrelgonj, Saronkhola, Mothbaria and Indurkani Upazilas and frequently visit remote areas.·
∎ Knowledge in safeguarding (Child Protection, Gender, & Anti-Sexual Harassment) and conflict transformation is also necessary.·
∎ The Project Coordinator has to maintain close relations and coordination with other senior staff members of CODEC in the coastal region as well as lead applicant NETZ.·

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Responsible for coordination of all program activities in at two upazilas·       Coordination and establishment of all civil society organizations (CSOs)·       Provide proper guideline to field personnel in project activities implementation.·
∎ Network and relation build up with local government and administration·
∎ Provide all reports and documentations required by the project.· Develop activity plan and detailed implementation plan for each year and update quarterly.Coordinate with development of team’s monthly work plan and annual training calendar.·
∎ Supervise the selection of beneficiaries along with TO, FF as per need.
∎ Responsible for enhancing the capacity of local CSOs and fostering a culture of grassroots engagement·
∎ Maintain coordination with field activities, ensuring supportive field project management and reporting standards and overseeing the work at different level.Support day-to-day coordination among union and level activities in the Upazila.
∎ Coordination of training for target groups, workshops, dialogue meetings between civil society and government agencies and service provider at different level and provide feedback and ensuring safeguards at meetings.Ensure regular visits to CSOs and secondary schools·
∎ Coordination of climate-resilient innovative initiative opportunities
∎ Technical Activities:
∎ a.   Provide technical support in the establishment of robust networks among enhanced CSOs and the engagement of public authorities.
∎ b.   Provide accurate data to the Project Coordinator as well as donor level spokesperson to ensure in time reporting.
∎ c.   Maintain liaison with local civil society actors and work on climate-induced human rights violations. d.   Organize training on a conflict-sensitive human rights-based approach, climate advocacy and networking, democratic dialogue etc.e.   Analyze all data collected from the field level based on the project monitoring matrix.
∎ Work Supervision:
∎ The Area Officer will work under the technical supervision of the Project Coordinator for each assigned task and assignment and the overall guidance of NETZ Bangladesh. With respect to administrative supervision responsible to the employer or his designated authority.
∎ Knowledge Management:
∎ a.   S/he will be responsible for maintaining a Work Journal, where s/he will document learnings, mistakes, challenges, experiences, accumulated knowledge, etc either in English/Bengali and share with line manager/CODEC management when required.b.   S/he will be responsible for coordinating with all teams/departments of project/program to document and share all knowledge that can be relevant and beneficial for the organization.
∎ PSEA: S/he should abide by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC)’s six core principles on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy.
∎ CODEC is an inheritor of DANIDA Bangladesh derived from couple of project intervention explicitly DANIDA Boat Building Project and Boat Rental Scheme. CODEC has been working as a people centered development organization since 1985. CODEC has been growing and evolving into efficient and effective non-governmental development organization in the coastal area of Bangladesh. From the beginning of its development intervention CODEC started its activities only with the fisherfolk communities but over the period CODEC now extended its working area with other disadvantaged coastal communities along with the fisherfolk community.
∎ CODEC is currently seeking qualified candidates from potential Bangladeshi nationals for the position of Area Officer for its project titled: Environmental Human Rights for a Just Transition: Strengthened Local CSOs Transforming Climate Hotspots into Resilient Communities (ENGAGE) project. The project will be implemented in Morrelgonj and Saronkhola Upazila under Bagerhat District and Mothbaria Upazila and Indurkani Upazila under Pirojpur District.The project is being implemented in collaboration with other NGOs in 6 districts having NETZ Bangladesh as the lead organization. European Union (EU) is financially supporting the project. The Position will be available from 1 April 2025 to 31 December 2028
∎ The project is implemented through an integrated approach building synergies across the program elements with the objectives of achieving the following results through interrelated components:·
∎ Enhanced Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) independently contribute to sustainable development, human rights, democracy and good governance in Bangladesh.·
∎ Active local CSOs led by women, youth and indigenous peoples sustainably protect and promote the right to a healthy, clean, and safe environment of the people most vulnerable to climate change and environmental degradation and advance a low-carbon and climate-resilient society.
