Job Context:
∎ Duty Station/ organization: Mother and Child Health Centre, Teknaf/ Bangladesh Red Crescent society, Population Movement Operation
∎ Reporting to: Midwife, Mother and Child Health Centre (MCHC)
∎ Period of contract: Fixed term contract for one year, and extension subject to performance and fund availability
∎ Purpose: The purpose of the Asst. midwife to support midwife in providing antenatal care/ post-natal care to mothers and children within a safe environment.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Assistant Midwife will attend to pregnant and expecting mothers, monitor the condition of the fetus with supervision of the Midwife.
∎ She will work with the Midwife to provide antenatal care/ post-natal care within the MCH and educate new mothers on the daily care of their newborn babies.
∎ She will advise women about their family planning options and the importance of family planning.
∎ She will carry out screening tests under Midwife's supervision.
∎ With guidance from the Midwife, she will provide care for and assist women during labor and post deliver.
∎ With guidance and supervision from the Midwife, she will be responsible for monitoring the fetus during labor.
∎ She will be identifying the high-risk pregnancies.
∎ She will write patient records as needed.
∎ She will take proper infection prevention practices including housekeeping.
∎ She will maintain patient's confidentiality by keeping information private.
∎ She will conduct any other tasks assigned by supervisor.
∎ 1. Actively work towards the achievement of MCHC objectives
∎ 2. Abide by and work in accordance with Red Cross and Red Crescent principles and code of conduct
∎ 3. Perform any other work assigned by line manager
Additional Requirements:
∎ 1 year working experience in Hospital/clinic preferable.
∎ Ability to speak, write and understand Chittagonian language.
∎ Able to work in a multi-culture environment
∎ Able to work during odd hours, capacity to take pressure, flexible to working hours, teamwork, self-motivated, organized, hardworking, and flexible regarding work hour
