Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Engage with the Rohingya community to promote vermi-composting as a sustainable practice for producing high-value, eco-friendly fertilizer.
∎ Conduct awareness sessions and training workshops to educate community members on vermicompost production techniques, benefits, and usage.
∎ Facilitate the formation of vermicompost production groups among refugees and support them in establishing vermicomposting units.
∎ Monitor the progress of vermicompost production activities and provide ongoing technical support to community members and refugee volunteers.
∎ Coordinate with the MEAL Officer to collect data and report on the impact of vermicomposting initiatives on soil quality, crop yield, and community livelihoods.
∎ Promote environmental sustainability and best practices in community engagement, inclusion, and protection.
∎ Should abide by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC)'s six core principles on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy.
∎ Ensure the safety of team members (with respect to Prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse - PSEA) from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the program's goals of safeguarding implementation.
∎ Act as a key source of support, guidance,, and expertise on safeguarding to establish a safe working environment.
∎ Engage with the Rohingya community to promote sustainable vegetable production practices, focusing on crops like pumpkin and other suitable vegetables for Bhasan Char's climate and soil conditions.
∎ Conduct community meetings, training sessions, and workshops to raise awareness about the benefits of vegetable cultivation for improving nutrition, food security, and income generation.
∎ Support establishing and maintaining community vegetable gardens, ensuring active participation from refugees and adherence to sustainable agricultural practices.
∎ Facilitate the formation of farmer groups and cooperatives among refugee community members, providing technical support and guidance on vegetable cultivation techniques, pest management, and crop rotation.
∎ Monitor the progress of vegetable production activities, identify challenges, and provide timely solutions to enhance productivity and sustainability.
∎ Work closely with the Training and Market Linkage Officer to identify potential market opportunities for selling surplus produce, linking community farmers with local markets, traders, and E-voucher shops.
∎ Promote best practices in inclusion, gender mainstreaming, and protection, ensuring equitable participation of all community members, including women and vulnerable groups, in vegetable production activities.
∎ Collaborate with the MEAL Officer to collect and report data on vegetable production activities, including crop yields, beneficiary participation, and the impact on food security and livelihoods.

∎ The vegetable production component, focused on pumpkin cultivation, aims to boost food security and nutrition while linking refugee farmers to E-voucher shops and fresh food markets.
∎ Refugees will receive training, cash grants, and technical support. The project will initially run for 2.5 months, with coordination efforts involving camp administration and stakeholders.
