Educational Requirements:
∎ The candidate must have -
∎ An advanced Master's /MPhil or equivalent degree with Honours in a relevant subject from the Social Science discipline (e.g., Political Science/Anthropology/Sociology/Public Policy/Public Administration/Economics, Law, etc.). Candidates with a Ph.D. in a relevant field will have an advantage;
∎ Secured first class/division in at least two levels of public examinations from secondary education & above. Those having a 3rd division/class or a CGPA of less than 2.5 on a scale of 4 or 3 on a scale of 5 at any stage of his/her academic career need not apply;
∎ At least 12 (twelve) years of research and/or teaching experience with a proven record of independent research & publication, teamwork, leadership, supervision and mentoring in reputed organisations, of which at least 8 (eight) years at senior level positions;

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Initiate and lead the identification/development of research themes and activities; develop and update research & policy agenda consistent with the organizational mission, project objectives and evolving anti-corruption context;
∎ Oversee execution of research studies/projects by engaging in all stages of the process - conception, design, data collection, analysis, drafting and dissemination and provide high-quality and strategic guidance and inputs in terms of study design, methodology, analysis, inference and positioning;
∎ Guide the development of research strategies, protocols, and approaches; lead in developing innovative research methods;
∎ Conduct research independently and also as the research team leader; produce high-quality research reports, papers and articles of a publishable standard based on the analysis of data and literature with a clear and engaging writing style;
∎ Present papers/research findings based on policy and research work to policy-makers, academia, media and other audiences, as required;
∎ Provide policy briefings to government stakeholders, donors, civil society and the media as and when needed;
∎ Maintain a strong organizational position to ensure the integrity of data and the analysis presented to stakeholders;
∎ Stay up-to-date with scholarship in relevant fields and contribute to the intellectual and research initiatives of the organisation;
∎ Guide, inspire and evaluate the work of the researchers and provide line management and coordination of the various sub-teams within the division;
∎ Manage the overall R&P personnel and budget allocation, updating frequently to reflect shifting priorities and available resources; prepare periodic reports on the implementation of the project;
∎ Lead the R&P team to work in concert with other work streams, especially civic engagement and outreach & communication to achieve the organisational mission and project objectives; contribute to cross-cutting areas like monitoring, evaluation, knowledge & information management, training & gender issues to ensure synergy in project implementation;
∎ Engage and contribute as a member of TIB's Executive Management Team in project planning and operations, and fundraising efforts, including providing inputs on proposals and drafting progress reports;
∎ Undertake continuous personal and professional development to effectively contribute to knowledge and skills in the area of anti-corruption and governance research;
∎ Represent TIB in meetings with external stakeholders and help build and maintain relationships with relevant institutions, concerned government officials, NGOs, media and others, as required;
∎ This position is Dhaka-based. However, Director must have no hesitation to undertake field visits of short durations as and when necessary; and
∎ Perform any other relevant tasks assigned by the organisation consistent with TIB's mission and project objectives.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 35 to 60 years
∎ Substantive experience in the development of policy-oriented research reports and high-quality fundamental research skills, including the ability to design studies, data collection and analysis; demonstrated ability to distil and interpret complicated research findings and create clear, high-quality products for both academic and non-academic audiences;
∎ Experience in both executing research and overseeing execution by others, including guiding and managing research teams;
∎ Strong knowledge and expertise of social science research methodology including their application to governance and anti-corruption studies and capacity to mentor the research team on the same;
∎ Good knowledge and experience in developing research findings into policy-influencing tools, and interest to engage in processes for practical application of such tools;
∎ Knowledge and experience in qualitative data analysis; including narrative analysis to sort and organize large data sets and thematic coding to organize themes and concepts for analytical interpretation, and ability to interpret and synthesize multiple streams of data, draw inferences, arrive at conclusions, and interpret results for relevant stakeholders. Candidates having quantitative research skills will have an advantage;
∎ Experience in working in a multidisciplinary setting and using a range of research methods and analyzing data on a broad range of topics;
∎ Experience in assembling and managing research teams and ensuring the robust quality of research deliverables;
∎ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines and produce high-quality results in an environment with competing priorities and deadlines;
∎ Robust knowledge of the policy/government landscape and policy-making; sound understanding of corruption, governance or related subjects;
∎ Exceptional external communication and speaking skills, in both English and Bangla, with the ability to deliver presentations at external events and conduct interviews with the media, as and when required;
∎ Strong writing and editing skills in both English and Bangla, and the ability to conduct and supervise research and analysis in both languages;
∎ Proficiency in using computer systems and software such as Microsoft Office Suites, word processing, spreadsheets and the internet to research and prepare materials;
∎ Strong planning, coordination, and project management skills including result chain framework; experience and expertise in thinking holistically about the organisation's mission and synchronise between work of the research team and work of other divisions;
∎ Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work with individuals from diverse academic and social backgrounds; Research/working experience in areas of anti-corruption and governance shall be an added advantage.
