Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Job Purpose:
∎ The Executive / Sr. Executive - ETP will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the Effluent Treatment Plant, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations set by the Department of Environment (DoE), Bangladesh, and international sustainability standards. The incumbent will oversee chemical management, wastewater treatment processes, equipment maintenance, and accurate reporting to maintain environmental compliance and sustainability standards.
∎ Operational Management:
∎ Operate and monitor the ETP system including primary, secondary, and tertiary wastewater treatment stages.
∎ Ensure optimal chemical dosing and maintain appropriate conditions for biological treatment (e.g., pH, DO, COD/BOD reduction).
∎ Monitor wastewater parameters regularly to ensure compliance with DoE standards and international sustainability guidelines (ZDHC/MRSL).
∎ Chemical Management:
∎ Manage chemical inventory including procurement planning, storage safety, proper handling, and usage tracking.
∎ Ensure safe handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals used in wastewater treatment.
∎ Conduct regular audits of chemical usage to optimize consumption and minimize waste.
∎ Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
∎ Perform routine preventive maintenance of ETP equipment including pumps, blowers, dosing systems, clarifiers, mixers, filters, etc.
∎ Identify operational issues promptly and implement corrective actions to prevent downtime or environmental hazards.
∎ Coordinate with maintenance teams for timely repair and servicing activities.
∎ Compliance and Documentation:
∎ Maintain detailed records of daily operational parameters such as flow rate, chemical consumption, sludge generation, pH levels, COD/BOD/TSS values.
∎ Prepare monthly reports on ETP performance for internal management review and external regulatory audits.
∎ Ensure adherence to local environmental laws/regulations (DoE) and international compliance requirements.
∎ Safety & Environmental Standards:
∎ Adhere strictly to safety guidelines; ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
∎ Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the ETP area to ensure a safe working environment.
∎ Conduct regular training sessions for workers/operators on chemical safety practices and environmental compliance.
∎ Continuous Improvement:
∎ Stay updated on emerging wastewater treatment technologies and industry best practices.
∎ Suggest process improvements aimed at enhancing efficiency and sustainability of ETP operations.
