Responsibilities & Context:
∎ To support the CSA technical lead in preparing monthly work plans for each extension agent assigned to the project to ensure that the project can respond to the extension services needs of targeted farmers, and private sectors and cumulatively reach the targets agreed by USAID.
∎ The position will engage the regular IFDC staff to monitor and supervise the activities of the CSA project extension agents/officers working under the project based on agreed monthly work plans and the targets set by IFDC in consultation with USAID.
∎ Identify and deploy relevant CSA production technologies for rice, pulses, oilseeds, and horticultural crops.
∎ Will provide technical backstopping to oversight of DAE staff extension activities and private sector service providers in the project-selected components and crops.
∎ Participate in the orientation and induction program for Extension Agents on relevant packages of practices (PoPs).
∎ Ensure that the extension agents organize and network with all relevant associations such as BFA, Seed associations, and Water Users Associations in their respective sites.
∎ Ensure that the training team conducts step-down training for farmers and private sector service providers timely.
∎ Identify and recommend for adoption of relevant agronomic and climate-smart technologies and practices on rice, pulses oilseeds, and horticultural crops.
∎ Identify and recommend for deployment of small-scale mechanized equipment for project proposed crops such as small transplanter, direct seeder, urea briquetting applicators, and local fabrication of briquetting machines.
∎ Ensure the 200-model village organization of farmers and their produce for linkage to approved off-takers. Collaborate with AFE and all other technical team members. Provide Backstopping on all extension services delivery in the field.
∎ Develop, collate, evaluate, and disseminate proven agricultural innovations and research on extension methodologies and policy. Instruct extension workers and develop specialized service activities in the area of agriculture.
∎ He/she plans, develops, organizes, and evaluates training programs. Conduct spot-on checks on extension Agents and advise where and when necessary.
∎ Establish a linkage between research and extension after identifying appropriate CSA technologies. Provide consultation with farmers and agricultural businesses on the latest CSA technologies and practices related to agriculture.
∎ Ensure that all Extension workers adhere to the Agricultural Extension Policy. Provide relevant knowledge and practical solutions to farmers and the team at large.

∎ Position Summary
∎ The Farmer Engagement and Extension Specialist is to evaluate public/private sector extension and farmer engagement strategies and support the development of these strategies The responsibility of this position is to ensure the efficient delivery of extension services to farmers especially, the mobilization of farmers and the deployment and adoption of CSA technologies and practices.
∎ Duties and Responsibilities
∎ Supervision and Team Collaboration
∎ The position is supervised by and reports to the DCOP. She/he works in close collaboration with IFDC technical and other support teams, IFDC staff members and colleagues from other project consortium members.
∎ The position will guide the regular IFDC staff in supervision of the field-level junior extension officers and collaborate with technical team lead (CSA Team leader, Soil Health, Seed, Mechanization, Water Management, Capacity Development, Business Development specialists) and the cross-cutting teams (Financial Inclusion, environment, Gender & Youth specialist).
∎ Position and Duty Station
∎ This is a Regular position with a duty in the project office in Dhaka.
∎ The position requires intensive travel (up to 50% of the time) in target Zone of Influence (ZOI) districts in Bangladesh.
