∎ Essential: Minimum Higher Secondary education,
∎ Desirable: University degree in the field of English Language, Healthcare or Interpreting.
∎ Desirable: Certified medical interpreter (CMI) or health care interpreter (HCI)
∎ Experience:
∎ Desirable: Minimum 1 year experience as a medical interpreter in a healthcare setting.
∎ Desirable: Knowledge of basic health terminology.
∎ Language:
∎ Essential: English C1 level and Bengali native level
∎ Essential: Excellent speaking and understanding of Chittagoinan dialect and/or Rohingya language.

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Inform medical staff about important cultural nuances to consider during a meeting, medical consultation or interview with local people.
∎ Participate in staff trainings and meetings as an interpreter.
∎ Provide face to face interpreting, as well as during telephone and radio calls or other telecom devices, when necessary.
∎ Adapt communication to any circumstances, using appropriate language registry as well as diplomatic and courtesy manners.
∎ Translate MSF internal / external documents into local language(s).
∎ Keep record of all translated documents.
∎ Look after all equipment provided, i.e. dictionaries or other books that belong to MSF.
∎ Ensure confidentiality and medical secrecy.

∎ MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:
∎ Accountabilities related to translation:
∎ -         providing verbal and written translation services to facilitate clear, respectful, and confidential communication between medical staff and the local population during daily medical activities.
∎ -         Providing support to the medical team by ensuring neutral and accurate interpretation.
∎ -         Declare if any words requiring translation are unknown to the translator prior to translation to ensure accuracy of translation.
∎ -         Collaborate in the collection of data required to develop the knowledge of the local language.
∎ -         Participate in the creation of documents regarding the improvement of general knowledge about beneficiaries’ specific ways of verbal and non-verbal expressions of health concerns and health seeking behavior.
∎ -         Flexible in the working areas and able to work in any or all MSF ongoing activities.
∎ -         Maintain utmost confidentiality of the patient information’s and other relevant information’s of one-to-one conversations at all time.
∎ Accountabilities related to Outreach Activities:
∎ -         Assist Internationally mobile and locally hired staff in everyday activities of the project including traveling to the project sites, clinic activities, and community-based patient interviews / home visits, and meetings with authorities and community groups.

Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ This is a Temporary Position
∎ Salary per month according to level three (3) of the internal MSF salary grid (BDT 39,000/- gross). Salary is not negotiable. Income tax deduction from salary will be applicable based on the current income tax rule.
∎ Two (2) annual leave days per month worked.
∎ Medical insurance for employee and direct dependents based on Health Care Policy- Locally Hired Staff (LHS).
∎ Compensation and other Benefits:
