Job Context:
∎ DASCOH Foundation is looking for dynamic Field Officer for its "Climate Resilient Agricultural Advancement in Barind (CRAAB)" project, a multidimensional project supported by Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) through Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture.
∎ The primary objective of the CRAAB project is to enhance the utilization of natural resources such as soil, water, and plants by promoting the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices for production, adaptation, and mitigation in the Barind region. The project aims to achieve this by improving irrigation efficiency, increasing farm productivity, and establishing local agribusiness opportunities through a robust public-private stakeholder network. As a result of these efforts, the well-being of 25,000 farmers residing in the Barind area is expected to significantly improve.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Develop and execute implementation plans to achieve project objectives at the community level.
∎ Assist in selecting project areas and identifying beneficiaries for farmers' training.
∎ Conduct regular discussions with farmers to promote suitable cropping patterns.
∎ Motivate and mobilize farmers to adopt water-efficient irrigation technologies, reducing water abstraction, and increasing income.
∎ Facilitate a series of training sessions on water-efficient technologies, their usage, and the cultivation of high-value crops.
∎ Coordinate and cooperate with relevant authorities such as the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) for a conducive environment.
∎ Organize field demonstrations for paddy and orchard cultivation.
∎ Orient and educate community members on the maintenance and management of the implemented technologies.
∎ Promote climate-resilient agricultural practices, improving water efficiency, and enhancing the livelihoods of farmers in the Barind region.
∎ Strengthen market linkages and promote private sector engagement to ensure the project meets the needs of the people and benefits the community.
∎ Effectively implement planned project activities, prioritizing financial transparency and ensuring value for money, while optimizing the use of resources in alignment with DASCOH policies and donor requirements to maximize benefits for the project's stakeholders.
∎ Prepare monthly progress reports and document best practices and lessons learned and Ensure timely submission of all relevant documents/reports.
∎ Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to undertake any other specific areas of responsibility assigned by management, as and when required.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 40 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ The candidate must have 5 years’ experience in implementing Climate Resilient or Agricultural Project in any national or international organisation.
∎ Required to have prior working experience in collaborative teamwork within a multi-dimensional and multi-cultural field setting.
∎ Working experience in Barind area with ethnic, Dalit, person with disability other marginalized communities will be considered as an advantage of the candidate.
∎ Applicants should possess a good physique, be energetic, hold a valid driving license, and demonstrate a willingness to ride a motorcycle and work in remote areas.
∎ Demonstrates facilitation skills with the ability to conduct multimedia presentations, including practical demonstrations.
∎ Proficiency in using Android mobile phone applications, as well as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet browsing, is required.
∎ Proficiency in both spoken and written Bangla and English will be considered an added advantage.
Salary: Negotiable
