Job Context:
∎ Action for Social Development (ASD) is inviting application from committed & progressive development worker for the position of Strengthening Emergency Preparedness and building infrastructure for Disaster Vulnerable Communities in Bangladesh (STEP & BuildIn) Project, funded by Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (BMZ/G), Germany.
∎ Role of this Position: Under the direct supervision of Field Supervisor and Capacity Development Officer, the position is frontline staff of the project and role will be mostly mobilizing the community for transferring knowledge, skills and appropriate technologies for enhancing their capacities to become more adaptive to climate change and disaster impacts, more disaster resilient by promoting household food security, better health conditions and greater coping and adapting mechanisms at the community level.
∎ Project Summary: Strengthening Emergency Preparedness and building infrastructure for Disaster Vulnerable Communities in Bangladesh (STEP & BuildIn) Project is aiming to improve the life and livelihood status of the vulnerable people by focusing on (i) Strengthening knowledge, response and recovery capacity of different stakeholders (ii) Reducing the disaster risk through improving physical structure and providing improve adaptive services to the community and (iii) Reducing the vulnerability of the community people through providing improved and alternative livelihoods.
∎ Job Location: Tarol & Kulonj Union, Derai Upazila, Sunamgong District

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Organize communities to form people's organization following the guidelines
∎ Take proper initiatives for strengthening capacity of the group members
∎ Conducting community risk assess, vulnerability assessment and organizing events for developing community plan.
∎ Select beneficiaries for different kind supports (Cash/Input) and provide support maintain project guidelines. Facilitating exposure visits among different groups
∎ Taking action for linking the groups with local government and their support structure.
∎ Facilitate meeting, awareness events, training sessions/workshops for the selected families and/or communities.
∎ Visiting and following up the selected and assisted families and guiding them for practical use of knowledge and skills for the better disaster preparedness.
∎ Taking full responsibility to implement project activities at the assigned community and family level to reduce the disaster risk.
∎ Record results, changes in communities and response program activities and recommendations for better results.
∎ Communication skill, PRA tools

Additional Requirements:
∎ Position requires at least one year of experience in similar type of position. Experiences in disaster risk reduction, Climate Change Adaptation at local level, community development, livelihood improvement of vulnerable community is desired.
∎ Should have capacity in motivational and communication skill at local level.
∎ Ability to operate with independence, under pressure, to meet deadlines and commitments.
∎ Proven ability to work as part of a team, and as part of a wider network, is essential.
∎ The commitment and drive to achieve challenging goals
∎ Cultural sensitivity and ability to respect and work well with people from different backgrounds and disciplines.
∎ Can operate computer/Tab. Driving motorcycle.
∎ Willingness to stay and operate project at remote area.
∎ Physically and mentally sound with good health, smart, energetic, ability to work in all situation and environment. Swimming skill is essential for working in the haor areas.
∎ Age limit: Age limit can be relaxed for most deserving candidate

Salary: Tk. 15000 - 20000 (Monthly)

Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ TA, festival bonus and other benefits as per organization policy.
