Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Nari Maitree (NM), a well-established women-led NGO with 42 years of experience in Bangladesh, is implementing the "Together We Lead" project in partnership with UN Women. This project supports positive gender norms among forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals (Rohingya) and host communities in Cox's Bazar, focusing on leadership and agency for women and girls and engagement with men and boys. We invite qualified and committed candidates to join our Cox’s Bazar team and contribute to this important initiative, drawing on Nari Maitree’s extensive experience in development and humanitarian programming.
∎ The Gender Officer will provide technical expertise on gender equality, GBV prevention, women's leadership, and EMAP implementation across project activities.
∎ Reports to: Program Coordinator
∎ Duty Station: Cox's Bazar (Ukhiya), with occasional travel to field sites as required
∎ Technical Guidance:Provide technical expertise on gender equality, GBV prevention and response, and women's empowerment to project staff and Gender Volunteers.Develop and adapt gender-sensitive tools, guidelines, and training materials.Review project activities through a gender and protection lens that promotes gender equality and mitigates unintended harm.Provide technical review of project deliverables (e.g., reports, IEC materials, training content) to ensure gender-responsiveness. Capacity Building:Design and deliver training programs for Gender Volunteers, community members, and other stakeholders on gender equality, GBV, women’s leadership, and related topics in coordination with the Capacity Development Officer.Provide mentorship and technical support to EMAP Supervisors and facilitators to enhance their skills and knowledge.Maintain a resource or reference library of gender tools, best practices for project use.Train project staff and volunteers on survivor-centered approaches and GBV guiding principles. EMAP Implementation:Supervise and support the implementation of the EMAP program, ensuring fidelity to the model and adapting it to the local context.Provide training and coaching to EMAP facilitators on EMAP technical content and facilitation skills.Monitor the effectiveness of EMAP sessions through field visits and review of reports, and identify areas for improvement.Analyze EMAP pre- and post-assessment data to evaluate program effectiveness.Community Engagement:Engage community leaders and members to promote gender equality and address harmful social norms.Support community-led initiatives that promotes women’s leadership by providing technical guidance and linkages to project resources.Ensure that project activities are culturally appropriate and responsive to community needs.Coordination and Networking:Represent Nari Maitree at relevant forums and meetings related to gender equality and GBV.Coordinate with donors, other NGOs, and government agencies to ensure collaboration and avoid duplication.Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning:Provide technical input to the M&E Officer on gender-sensitive indicators and methodologies for tracking gender outcomes.Review and analyze data on gender-related outcomes and impacts from project activitiesEnsure all project data is disaggregated by sex, age, and disability.Support Gender Volunteers in conducting periodic gender assessmentsSafeguarding:Ensure the implementation of Nari Maitree's PSEA and safeguarding policies.Promote a safe and respectful environment for project participants and staff.Report any safeguarding concerns or incidents promptly.Monitor protection risks in project implementation areas and recommend mitigation measures.
