Job Context:
∎ GIZ has been working as a development partner of Bangladesh since 1972 under bilateral agreement. Currently, we are working in the areas of renewable energy, adaptation to climate change, textile and leather sector, biodiversity, as well as good governance, displacement, and migration.
∎ For the team of our "Socio-Economic Support for Host- and Displaced Communities in Cox`s Bazar, SHADE", we seek applications for the position of "Law Specialist" focuses the area of Gender Based Violence, GBV.
∎ Contract Duration: Initially for 1 year (possibility to extend further)

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The position holder is responsible for:
∎ Managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
∎ Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
∎ Advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
∎ Advise supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring
∎ Independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager
∎ Make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
∎ Assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution
∎ B. Tasks
∎ (Core Tasks)
∎ Concept development and adaption to local context
∎ Training content and manuals development focusing gender responsive conflict management approach
∎ Provide training and mentoring to the local conflict mediation groups, local representatives, camp authorities and other stakeholders
∎ Provide training and mentoring to the local women leaders to act as a changemaker/social advocate to mitigate/end GBV
∎ Inclusive interventions: "making the voices of women, adolescents and FDMN heard"
∎ Maintaining effective coordination, implementation and follow-up of relevant programme activities in accordance with project/programme goals at the field level
∎ Ensuring coordination among implementing partners, consultants and expertise
∎ In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:
∎ 1.Technical advisory, knowledge management and learning
∎ Supporting the legal research and study activities/desk research related to the justice system in Bangladesh as required
∎ S/he stays abreast of situational (conflict) and technical developments regarding social cohesion and conflict transformation in the Cox's Bazar region
∎ Assures due consideration of GIZ core project strategies (capacity development, gender and disability, do-no-harm, beneficiary participation) in project activities
∎ Provides technical guidance and assistance to implementing partners, government entities and service providers
∎ Contributes to knowledge management, documentation and reporting obligations
∎ 2. Project implementation
∎ The position holder
∎ Develops appropriate tools, methodologies and capacity development measures
∎ Implementation and supervision of project activities and support measures
∎ Ensuring quality of the programme implementation at the field level
∎ Develops and implements a capacity building / training plan
∎ Contributes to the reporting to clients, political partners and others as required and assures that report writing responsibilities of designated implementing partners and consultants are met
∎ Keeping project related necessary documents/reports and files updated
∎ Supporting other outputs/components under the programme
∎ 3. Partnership management and networking
∎ The position holder
∎ Facilitating interactions with key stakeholders (CiC, UNO, and UP), including high-level senior government officials
∎ Organizing and facilitating events, dialogues, workshops, training and meetings at the camp, district and national level
∎ Represents and coordinates activities in the Inter Sector Coordination Group's (ISCG) Protection Cluster and related working groups (General Protection, Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Child Protection (CP) as required.
∎ Builds up a reliable cooperation structures in the entrusted field, involving key local state and non-state actors, service providers and representatives from host and FDMN communities
∎ 4.Other duties/additional tasks
∎ The position holder
∎ Support to the project's security and risk management system through identification, communication and analysis of potential risks and security issues in the project region and related mitigation recommendations and procedures
∎ Other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor to support program implementation, including for other components of the program

Additional Requirements:
∎ 5 years of relevant professional experience in the development sector
∎ At least 2 years' experience working as legal /case management officer in FDMN camps in Cox's Bazar
∎ At least 2 years' experience in capacity development of state and non-state actors
∎ Sound experience with GBV related conflicts.
∎ Sound knowledge and understanding of the local justice system (e.g., village court, arbitration, mediation, etc.)
∎ A clear understanding of the conflict dynamics in the camp and adjacent host communities
∎ Bangladesh Bar Council Advocateship is desirable
∎ Ability to work well under pressure and must be a strong team player
∎ Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
∎ Ability to work in an intercultural environment
∎ Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
∎ Ability to facilitate and communicate in the local Cox's Bazar dialect/FDMN dialect
∎ Willingness to travel and work in the camps in Teknaf and Ukhiya
∎ Strong writing, speaking, and reporting skills in English
∎ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
∎ Proven ability in self-organization, to work under pressure and deliver on time
∎ Proven commitment to gender equality and disability
