Educational Requirements:
∎ Graduate in Forestry/Agriculture/Horticulture/Animal Husbandry/Natural Resource Management/Development Studies or other relevant subjects. Other higher degrees will get added advantage.
∎ At least 5 years' relevant working experience in national or international NGO;
∎ Strong experience in working with rural communities;
∎ Strong coordination and management skills;
∎ Good skills on advocacy, liaison and networking;
∎ Strong organizational development skills for the grass root people;
∎ Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
∎ Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team and willingness to work under pressure;
∎ Written and verbal efficiency in both Bengali and English;
∎ Good computer literacy, presentation skills, both oral and written;

Job Context:
∎ Arannayk Foundation (AF) is a not-for-profit organization devoted to forest and biodiversity conservation in Bangladesh since 2003. The AF has been awarded a fund under the USAID Local Works Bangladesh Activities to implement a project on restoration and conservation of forests in Ukhiya, Cox`s Bazar, where massive deforestation and degradation of forests have taken place due to the influx of the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals (Rohingya). The project titled "USAID`s Greening Environment through Livelihood Improvement and Forest Enrichment (GREEN LIFE) Activity" promotes alternative livelihood development of the poor people in the host communities through technical skills and market linkage development for diversified income generating activities and builds capacity of local institutions in forest conservation. The implementation of the project has started from May 2020 and it will continue up to April 30, 2023. Continuation of the service will be based on satisfactory performance and availability of project provisions. However, for any reason, if the project is discontinued or fund is not available, the position shall be abolished.
∎ The AF intends to hire one `Livelihood Specialist` for the GREEN LIFE Activity. The main tasks for this position would be, but not necessarily limited to, the following:

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The basic function of the position is to work in a team to design and implement the field activities and provide the deliverables of the "livelihood development" component of the project as per work plan developed by AF under the provisions of the award signed between AF and USAID. He or She will take part in developing program strategies, approaches, methodologies and implementation process of the relevant component. The key responsibilities of the position will include but not be limited to -
∎ Identify environmentally sound, gender sensitive and economically viable alternative income generating activities (AIGA) for the forest dependent communities and design training and demonstration activities and communication materials to promote those AIGAs among the project beneficiaries;
∎ Provide technical backstopping and capacity building support to the Technical Officers, Field Facilitators and Community Development Volunteers of the project for the proper implementation of the training and demonstration and regular Farmer Field School (FFS) sessions on AIGAs, market linkage development, climate change adaptation and natural resource management;
∎ Identify potential value adding economic activities through rapid value chain assessment (jointly with the technical officers) and plan activities to promote those among the project participants;
∎ Guide GREEN LIFE field team in implementing the horticultural and livestock value chain development activities (forward and backward market linkage development, capacity development support to local service providers, facilitation of farmers' access to finance for AIGA/micro-enterprise, etc.) planned by the project through value chain studies;
∎ Mobilize necessary technical support and material inputs from relevant resource organizations (public, private, NGO) to promote alternative livelihood development of the project beneficiaries;
∎ Assist in establishing linkages and cooperation with various service providers like Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) and Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Department of Livestock Services (DLS) and other organizations (including NGOs and private sector) as needed for effective implementation of the livelihood development activities of the project;
∎ Oversee the preparation and implementation of result-based monitoring of the project, especially for the "livelihood development" and associated components;
∎ Document success stories, weakness and potential areas for improvement including preparation of necessary survey tools and providing backstopping support to the field team for this purpose;
∎ Develop content of various publications on the experiences and success stories of the project, including PowerPoint presentations;
∎ Prepare necessary documentations for the training, workshops, community dialogues and meetings organized by the project and consolidate technical reports and case studies on the livelihood development activities;
∎ Prepare high-quality narrative/ progress reports, bi-weekly & monthly reports, project completion reports and develop innovative project ideas & proposals as required;
∎ Ensure that Arannayk Foundation's and donors brand values are maintained to strengthen good will and credibility in line with organizational values, mission and vision;
∎ Update or maintain relevant electronic/hardcopy formats and databases of AF as required;
∎ Perform any other duties as assigned by the AF management team or any other tasks that shall be decided upon by the Executive Director in the best interest of the Arannayk Foundation.
∎ This position will be based at the Arannayk Foundation headquarters in Dhaka with frequent field visits to working sites. S/he will be reportable to the Senior Program Officer of AF (assigned as the Project Director of the GREEN LIFE Activity) who will also provide supervision and guidance in planning, designing, strategy development & any other technical advisory support required for execution of activities. S/he will have close working relationship with the other team members of AF. S/he will be evaluated on his/her performance by the Executive Director of Arannayk Foundation.

Salary:
∎ Tk. 70000 - 80000 (Monthly)
∎ The gross monthly salary for the position will be BDT 70,000 - 80,000
