Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Assist in conducting medical assessments for visa applicants in accordance with Australian immigration health requirements.
∎ Verify patient identity and maintain accurate medical records using eMedical or paper-based systems.
∎ Conduct initial health screenings, including vital signs, weight, height, and basic medical history documentation.
∎ Assist physicians with physical examinations and specimen collection for laboratory tests.
∎ Ensure informed consent is obtained before any medical procedures.
∎ Provide applicants with information about further tests, referrals, or follow-up care as required.
∎ Perform medical assessments for offshore humanitarian visa holders within three (3) calendar days prior to departure.
∎ Identify and document any new medical conditions or changes in pre-existing conditions.
∎ Conduct screenings for communicable diseases, including Tuberculosis (TB) and malaria, and arrange necessary laboratory tests.
∎ Ensure vaccinations (e.g., Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Polio, Yellow Fever) are administered per protocol.
∎ Conduct mental health screenings using approved tools and escalate concerns as needed.
∎ Provide health clearance and document findings in eMedical or paper-based Health Manifest.
∎ Coordinate with medical escorts if additional travel assistance is required.
∎ Maintain high standards of clinical hygiene and infection control in compliance with medical guidelines.
∎ Provide patient-centered care, respecting cultural, gender, and language considerations.
∎ Communicate effectively with applicants about their medical assessments, results, and next steps.
∎ Ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information in accordance with data protection regulations.
∎ Assist in training and mentoring new nursing staff and support personnel.

∎ Purpose of the Role
∎ The Nurse is a member of the IRC health team and will be responsible for The Nurse - IME & DHC is responsible for assisting in the medical assessment of individuals undergoing Immigration Medical Examinations and Departure Health Checks as per the guidelines set by the Department of Home Affairs. The role involves conducting initial screenings, assisting panel physicians, administering vaccinations, and ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols.

∎ Highlights of Key Responsibilities
∎ 1. Immigration Medical Examination (IME) Duties:
