Job Context:
∎ Project name: Nutrition Sensitive Value Chains for Smallholder Farmers.
∎ This is a 5-years project funded by "The Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP)" which will end on 30 June 2023.
∎ This project aims to improve the nutrition of 35,000 smallholder male and female farmers and their households (HHs) in the Jamalpur district by adopting nutrition-sensitive agriculture (NSA) approach, it aims to improve nutrition through multiple pathways.
∎ This position will report to the Project Manager.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Nutrition Specialist is responsible for extending technical assistance to support project design, planning, administration, monitoring and evaluation of Nutrition program/project activities.
∎ Develop strategies for improving nutrition in project areas.
∎ Ensure capacity building of staff, partners, Govts. Official and other community Management.
∎ Ensure Learning and Evidence-Based Development, Dissemination and Knowledge Management about nutrition.
∎ He/she will work closely with other technical specialists on mainstreaming nutrition in the value chain development activities, as well as the gender activities.
∎ He/she will provide technical assistance to nutrition officer, government Health and family planning Departments in the management of ongoing nutrition interventions, MenCare approach and behavior change communication through demonstrated strategies to reduce child undernutrition.
∎ He/she will collaborate with other sectors to support the strengthening of inter-sectoral collaboration within the Upazilla and/or with program colleagues to share knowledge and programming experiences. Contributes to promoting convergence between health, nutrition and hygiene-sanitation strategies, activities, resources and policy.
∎ Assist in the development of appropriate communication and information strategy to support and/or advocate the development of Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices (IYCF) and micro-nutrient nutrition to enable more effective change in key care behaviors related to feeding, hygiene and sanitation and disease management.
∎ Coordinate with the consortium members to ensure their contributions to delivering activities efficiently and effectively.
∎ He/She will also work closely with the community and the consortium members/ partner in delivering basic nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive services and share reports timely.
∎ He/She will make frequent field visits and write qualitative reports.
∎ Ensure monitoring of project implementation at the Upazilla level in order to ensure quality interventions that follow guidelines & respond to the nutrition needs of the context.
∎ Facilitate the documentation of best practices and lessons learned, directed toward multiple audiences, to influence policy formation, develop capacity and foster professionalism.
∎ Support for developing reporting and monitoring mechanisms.
∎ Provide support in the design and implementation of baseline, needs assessments and impact evaluations as well as monitoring program progress to ensure donor compliance and program quality.
∎ Prepare Program implementation guidelines and review other documents co-relate with partners and donors.
∎ Facilitate policymakers for mainstreaming nutrition consideration into policy and programs, finding out how agriculture can best serve nutrition goals in addition to its economic benefits.
∎ Improve household food security, nutrition and the economic status of the family and the community.
∎ Ensure participatory Monitoring & Evaluation system
∎ Manage Upazila team nutrition officers and build their capacity
∎ Networking and linkages with consortium members, local government, WV regional office and WV national office.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 30 years
∎ Basic understanding on nutrition competencies like anthropometry, child growth monitoring, PD/Hearth project models, dietary diversity, supplementation, fortification, 7-11 Approach, UNICEF Conceptual Framework of Malnutrition, Nutrition Specific and Nutrition Sensitive Interventions, nutrition sensitive agriculture, etc.
∎ Knowledge on governments 7th 5 year Plan, global health and nutrition issues, specifically relating to children and women, and the current trends, methods and approaches.
∎ Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
∎ Leadership and managerial skills.
∎ Ability to be a self-starter who is able to motivate team members to achieve common goals.
∎ Ability to handle multiple tasks and multiple deadlines.
∎ Communications and networking.
∎ Good command in English & Bengali both in writing and speaking.
∎ Decision making and conflict resolution skills.
∎ Computer skills: demonstrates proficiency in computer applications including use of Word, Excel, email and internet applications, and other various software applications and databases commonly used in the work space.
∎ Ability to work under stressful condition and adaptive to local culture and situation.
∎ Have work experience in nutrition programming managing and/or providing nutrition technical inputs into donor funded projects.
∎ Experience in taking anthropometric measurements in a practical setting.
∎ Must be willing and able to travel frequently.
