∎ Minimum 2–3 years of experience in entrepreneurship development, livelihoods, and/or disaster risk reduction, preferably in NGO or development settings.
∎ Experience working with women, marginalized groups, or in gender-focused projects.
∎ Strong facilitation, communication, and networking skills.
∎ Knowledge of market systems, value chains, and local economic development.
∎ Familiarity with DRR concepts, tools, and local disaster governance structures.
∎ Proficiency in MS Office and basic project documentation.
∎ Willingness to travel frequently within the project area.
∎ Commitment to gender equality and social inclusion principles.
∎ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Identify and assess potential women entrepreneurs within target communities.
∎ Design and facilitate training on entrepreneurship, business planning, and financial literacy.
∎ Support the development of micro and small enterprises (MSEs), including market linkage facilitation.
∎ Coordinate with local government, private sector actors, and financial institutions to ensure access to services and resources for women entrepreneurs.
∎ Provide ongoing mentoring and technical assistance to MSEs.
∎ Conduct vulnerability assessments and support the development of community-based DRR plans.
∎ Organize awareness and capacity-building sessions on disaster preparedness, climate resilience, and risk mitigation.
∎ Promote integration of DRR strategies into livelihoods and enterprise development.
∎ Work closely with local disaster management committees and other relevant stakeholders.
∎ Maintain accurate records of activities, progress, and beneficiaries.
∎ Collect and report success stories, lessons learned, and best practices.
∎ Support project evaluations, assessments, and audits as required.
∎ Ensure timely submission of reports and updates to the Project Manager.
∎ ESDO was established in 1988 with the aim of supporting poor and marginalized people affected by the devastating flood and gradually moving towards achieving a broader vision of achieving sustainable, secured, and resilient livelihoods for these poor and marginalized people through improving their overall sustainable development. For the last more than three and a half decades of its development journey, ESDO has set an outstanding example of a sustainable development model for the underprivileged communities of Bangladesh. ESDO has been working in the country's primarily unserved and underserved locations, nurturing a community-focused participatory approach and people's ownership. Consequently, the ESDO's working area has already established an enabling environment. We have made notable achievements in livelihood improvement, food security and nutrition, education, women's empowerment, health, the promotion of children's rights, adolescent and youth engagement, and the rights of ethnic minorities. During this long span, we have adapted to the changing situation and provided the most time-bound effective services, especially to the poor and disadvantaged people. Considering the government's development policies, we are currently implementing a considerable number of projects and programs, including a microfinance program, through a community-focused and people-centered approach to accomplish the government's development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN as a whole. One of the most dynamic organizations, ESDO, is expanding its development interventions across 408 upazilas under 53 districts of Bangladesh, thereby reaching over 15 million impoverished and vulnerable individuals.
∎ The Officer – Entrepreneurship Development & DRR will play a key role in facilitating women's economic empowerment through entrepreneurship and resilience building under the NSSS project. This role involves supporting community-based enterprise development, promoting inclusive market systems, and enhancing disaster preparedness capacities among women and vulnerable groups in the project area.. ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the following position.
