Responsibilities & Context:
∎ CODEC is an inheritor of DANIDA Bangladesh derived from couple of project intervention explicitly DANIDA Boat Building Project and Boat Rental Scheme. CODEC has been working as a people centered development organization since 1985. CODEC has been growing and evolving into efficient and effective non-governmental development organization in the coastal area of Bangladesh. From the beginning of its development intervention CODEC started its activities only with the fisherfolk communities but over the period CODEC now extended its working area with other disadvantaged coastal communities along with the fisherfolk community.
∎ CODEC is currently seeking qualified candidates from potential Bangladeshi nationals for the position of Project Coordinator for its project titled: Environmental Human Rights for a Just Transition: Strengthened Local CSOs Transforming Climate Hotspots into Resilient Communities (ENGAGE) project. The project will be implemented in Morrelgonj and Saronkhola Upazila under Bagerhat District and Mothbaria Upazila and Indurkani Upazila under Pirojpur District.The project is being implemented in collaboration with other NGOs in 6 districts having NETZ Bangladesh as the lead organization. European Union (EU) is financially supporting the project. The Position will be available from 1 April 2025 to 31 December 2028
∎ The project is implemented through an integrated approach building synergies across the program elements with the objectives of achieving the following results through interrelated components:·
∎ Enhanced Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) independently contribute to sustainable development, human rights, democracy and good governance in Bangladesh.·
∎ Active local CSOs led by women, youth and indigenous peoples sustainably protect and promote the right to a healthy, clean, and safe environment of the people most vulnerable to climate change and environmental degradation and advance a low-carbon and climate-resilient society.
∎ Responsibilities:
∎ a. Provide technical support to Lead Implementing Actors for effective implementation of joint agenda
∎ b. Proper liaison and coordination with NETZ ensuring that project is implementing effectively
∎ c. Coordinate to implement the project activities timely aiming to maximize output, result and outcome.
∎ d. Develop and implement project Detail Implementation Plan (DIP) in consultation with selective CSOs and NETZ Bangladesh
∎ e. Organize coordination meeting with CSOs and program staff at districts, project office, and CODEC head office level.
∎ f. Organize regional policy dialogues and in-country exchange visits of local
∎ g. Provide on the Job and one to one couching to the project staff and representative of lead actors
∎ h. Technical support to develop training module on conflict sensitive human rights-based approach to environment and climate change, climate advocacy and networking issues and conduct training for staff and stakeholders
∎ i. Supervision of and capacity building support for third parties
∎ j. Organize journalists at district level and train them on reporting about the nexus of climate change, environmental harm and HRV
∎ k. Writing of project periodical and interim report and submit to NETZ
∎ l. Review and coordinate monitoring and survey data as per need of the project Other duties including liaison with government and non-governemnt organizations, local advocacy, research activities and ensuring safeguards during meetings, workshops, and trainings
∎ Office Operation:
∎ a. Coordinate office operational activities
∎ b. Ensuring that the office space, store, asset, personnel are in safe and secured
∎ Financial Management:
∎ a. Ensuring accountable and transparent financial transaction (if any) as per organization’s financial rules and regulation
∎ b. Provide guidance to maintain proper financial documentation as per CODEC and NETZ Bangladesh’s financial compliance
∎ c. Ensuring that staff are maintaining all bill and voucher properly in conduction of any event and program led by CODEC as per organization’s rules and regulation.
∎ d. Controlling budget and ensuring that financial transactions are accomplishing maintaining of organizations and government rules and regulation.
∎ e. Ensuring that every purchase is occurring transparently with confirming value for money through maintaining organizations and donor financial compliancea. Ensuring that staffs are obeying organization code of conduct and maintaining highest level of professionalism in the office campus.
∎ Communication & Stakeholders Relations:
∎ a. Maintaining proper communication with NETZ, staffs regarding programmatic and financial issue
∎ b. Maintain regular liaison with CSOs and other stakeholders
∎ c. Maintain regular communication with CSOs, Media, Networks, CBOs, private sectors for maximizing project’s long-term impact
∎ d. Maintain rapport and proper relation with government level stakeholders and other duty bearers
∎ Work Supervision: The Project Coordinator will work under the technical supervision of Director-Program and Knowledge Management, CODEC for each assigned task and assignment and the overall guidance of NETZ Bangladesh ith respect to administrative supervision responsible to the employer or his designated authority.
∎ Knowledge Management:
∎ a. S/he will be responsible to maintain a Work Journal, where s/he will document learnings, mistakes, challenges, experiences, accumulated knowledge, etc either in English/Bengali and share with line manager/CODEC management when required.
∎ b. S/he will be responsible to coordinate with all teams/departments of project/program to document and share all knowledge that can be relevant and beneficial for the organization.
∎ PSEA:S/he should abide by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC)’s six core principles on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy.
