Educational Requirements:
∎ Graduate in Forestry or Natural Resource Management with forest management or forestry science courses. Candidates experience of working in CHT will get added advantage.
∎ At least 07 years of experience in management and coordination in national or international NGO on Forest Conservation or Natural Resources Management;
∎ Experience of working with rural communities;
∎ Understanding of landscape level forest restoration and climate change resilience;
∎ Experience on conducting scientific assessments, spatial analysis and research based output generation for piloting;
∎ Experience on nursery raising, plantation establishment and restoration of biodiversity hotspots and water scarce areas;
∎ Experience on promotion, channeling and/or marketing of FLR community products and services including FLR-based entrepreneurs;
∎ Experience in working and coordinating/liaise with government bodies such as local district administration/LGI, Bangladesh Forest Department etc.;
∎ Strong Organizational Development skills for the grass-root people, social campaigns and gender mainstreaming;
∎ Strong skills on leading advocacy and networking in ethnic communities;
∎ Ability to work with a diverse team and willingness to work under pressure;
∎ Written and verbal efficiency in both Bengali and English;
∎ Good computer literacy, presentation skills, both oral and written;
∎ GIS/RS skills will be an added advantage;

Job Context:
∎ Arannayk Foundation (AF) is a not-for-profit organization devoted to forest and biodiversity conservation in Bangladesh since 2003. It has been implementing "Chittagong Hill Tracts Communities` Forest Landscape Restoration" initiative (CHT-FLR) in Bandarban under USAID`s Community Partnership to Strengthen Sustainable Development (Compass) Program of US Forest Service, International Programs (USFS-IP). Compass is a partnership between USAID and USDA`s Forest Service International Programs which provides technical assistance to local organizations and communities. This CHT-FLR focuses on landscape level restoration by enhancement of ecosystem services of the degraded forest landscape in the Rowangchari Upazila of Bandarban hill district for climate change resilience, sustainable forest management and wellbeing of local communities. The major activities of the project include planning and designing of forest mosaic scale landscape restoration options for the different categories of land-use and land-cover classes through a participatory process and science-based methodology; pilot restoration options with improved land-use practices and assist developing skills for income generating activities; capacity local institutional capacity for sustainable. This pilot intends to serve as the first trial phase of FLR to increase support to the endeavor of building resilience to climate risks and shocks as well as promote locally led adaptation for hill forest in Bangladesh.
∎ AF intends to hire one `Project Manager` for the Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) Project as per following specifications:
∎ This position will be based at project office in Bandarban with necessary field visits to working sites. S/he will be reportable to and be evaluated on the performance by the Executive Director of AF. The Senior Forest Management Specialist of AF`s FLR Project along with Compass FLR Lead will provide regular supervision, monitoring and guidance in planning, designing, and developing strategies, routine reporting of activities, & any other technical advisory support required for FLR implementation.
∎ Initially 1 (one) year and may be extended till project period based on satisfactory performance and availability of project fund. However, for any reason, if the project is discontinued or fund is not available, the position shall be abolished.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The basic function of the position is overall management of CHT-FLR activities that includes implementation of FLR in selected sites, assist in innovative design of restoration techniques and options with USFS, build strong multi-stakeholder partnerships, promote strengthening CHT communities in forest management and forestry-based AIGAs, provide the deliverables of the project as per work plan under the provisions of the award signed between AF and USFS. The key responsibilities of this position will include but not be limited to -
∎ Lead and mobilize the Bandarban FLR project staff for capacity building of selected communities, organize restoration program involving communities, identify target areas/zonation with delineation/mapping, organize and planning to execute all ground activities;
∎ Coordinate with the technical team of Compass, partner local NGOs and AF management as necessary to develop capacity and ensure timely execution and reporting;
∎ Liaise with government agencies, hill district authority, local administration including CHT community leaders relating to project activities for promotion of FLR practices;
∎ Prepare training modules & reports for institutional development, technical capacity building for restoration, and all other activities of capacity building of staff and communities where required;
∎ Prepare operational guidelines and ensure effective monitoring of planned project activities to meet targets and timeline as per USAID and USFS's requirement for efficient implementation of the project;
∎ Collect and analyze data, document them and prepare reports for Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) designed by Compass result framework as well as reporting on environmental mitigation and compliance under USAID's monitoring system;
∎ Document project achievements, events, challenges with solutions, and lessons learned for undertaking follow-up measures;
∎ Assist in team building, training of staff and facilitate appraisal process of Bandarban project staff based on the project requirements;
∎ Prepare high-quality and illustrative progress reports, technical proposals and develop innovative project ideas as required;
∎ Facilitate management staff, consultants, donor visits and other missions relating to the project;
∎ Contribute to prepare social media posts and website contents on project activities, stories & achievements, events and lessons learned;
∎ Ensure that Arannayk Foundation's and donors brand values are maintained to strengthen good will and credibility in line with organizational values, mission and vision;
∎ Update or maintain relevant electronic/hardcopy formats and databases of AF as required;
∎ Manage project office's administrative and financial records, documents etc. as well as ensure donor's/employer's policies are compliant and well-maintained;
∎ Identify, analyze and report to management about potential risks for evaluation or necessary actions;
∎ Perform any other duties as assigned by the AF management team or any other tasks that shall be decided upon by the Executive Director in the best interest of the Arannayk Foundation;

Salary: Tk. 120000 - 130000 (Monthly)
