Educational Requirements:
∎ LL.B. (Hon's) or LL.M. from any reputed University/Institutions with all second class/ division or equivalent GPA/ CGPA in academic examinations.

Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 1 year(s)

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Closely coordinate with Donor Legal Protection to ensure quality, timely and effective delivery of legal assistance and awareness to persons of concern (PoCs).
∎ Provide legal counseling and advice to PoCs on legal matters/issues.
∎ Provide legal support to PoC at police stations and courts.
∎ Facilitate and conduct legal awareness sessions for refugees in the camps including community, refugee leaders and religious leaders.
∎ Assist Legal officer to conduct mediation to resolve disputes among PoCs and follow up on settlement of disputes resolved and maintain mediation files and records.
∎ Assist refugees to file complaints, FIR, GD and cases at police stations and courts.
∎ Conduct visits to detention centers and advocate or intervene with law enforcement agencies including police and courts to release PoCs held in detention.
∎ Inform and facilitate PoCs to attend court when required.
∎ Organize prison visits for refugees to visit immediate/close family members in prison.
∎ Collaborate with the police to rescue refugees who are victims of human trafficking or smuggling and offer legal support to the victims.
∎ Facilitate and conduct training and build capacity of refugee volunteers (paralegals) on legal assistance.
∎ Maintain effective interfaces and coordinate with PoCs, local authorities, protection and assistance partners to ensure PoCs access legal assistance and remedies and their needs and appropriate responses are identified.
∎ Attend coordination, protection, and other meetings, as may be required, at camp level.
∎ Participate in initiatives to capacitate authorities, relevant institutions, assistance and protection partners to improve access of justice to PoCs.
∎ Interpret laws, rulings and regulations to refugees.
∎ Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents.
∎ Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
∎ Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.
∎ Represent clients before government agencies.
∎ Examine data or record of cases involving refugees to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit.
∎ Maintain communication with concerned CiC, APBn post, other stakeholders, Block-Majhee /Sub-Majhee, Head-Majhee as required.
∎ Search for and examine public and other records of cases and draft legal opinion.
∎ Perform administrative and management functions.
∎ Perform all other duties as and when required by the Manager/ Supervisor.
∎ Prepare monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/yearly legal statements/ reports and work plan as per guideline.
∎ Prepare internal and external reports within agreed deadlines using BRAC and donor formats.
∎ Maintain open, supportive, and professional relationships with team members, and promote a strong team spirit.
∎ Provide regular on-going and constructive feedback to develop their practice.
∎ Provide related feedback to paralegal volunteers, develop action plans.
∎ Coach, train, and mentor paralegal volunteers with the aim of strengthening their technical capacity, exchanging knowledge, address gaps and providing professional development.
∎ Collaborate with Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager and Legal Officer to ensure programming is properly supported and that all activities are conducted according to BRAC Administration, HR, Logistics, Finance and other policies and procedures.
∎ Coordinate with BRAC's other departments as required to ensure effective and collaborative working relationships.
∎ Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders including community members, NGOs, government authorities and UN agencies.
∎ Participate in internal coordination meetings as required and liaise with BRAC's other programs as needed to ensure effective collaboration.
∎ Coordinate and follow-up with partner organizations and other project stakeholders as required.
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme's goals on safeguarding implementation.Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 18 years
∎ 0 to 1 years of experience in legal issues and their application in humanitarian or development settings.
∎ Strong writing skills and experience in writing Qualitative and Narrative reports.
∎ Ability to organize and prioritize work and competing tasks, meet deadlines and maintain composure.
∎ Excellent communication, listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, maintain confidentiality, respect of all ages, background and diversity.
∎ Women are encouraged to apply.
∎ Familiar with GBV case management and experience working with refugee.
∎ Must adhere to GBV/CP Core Guiding Principles and international humanitarian principles and standards for GBViE/ CPiE.
∎ Cultural awareness and sensitivity, prior experience in Rohingya camps is preferable.
∎ Strong background and skills in facilitating trainings, coaching and mentoring others.
∎ Experience in program/project management;
∎ IT literate with knowledge of MS word, Excel and internet programs.
∎ Able to travel frequently at different project location.
∎ Flexibility to handle varied and demanding task and ability to balance priorities.
∎ Fluency in English and Bangla languages including Chittagonian dialect. Excellent English drafting and reporting skills are required.
