Job Context:
∎ Bangladesh has been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, especially due to the Delta and Omicron variants. The apparel sector, which contributes to 84% of the country`s export and employs 4.2 million people, has been greatly affected, with canceled orders and raw material sourcing challenges. The readymade garment (RMG) sector is crucial for the economy, and a recent survey reports a decline in the percentage of women workers due to wage hikes, marital status, and automation. The health and economic impacts of the pandemic have disproportionately affected women workers in low-income jobs in both formal and informal sectors. The goal of the project is to increase the share of women in managerial and supervisory roles in the RMG sector by addressing gender-based violence, reducing harassment and biases, and implementing gender-equitable policies and practices in factories, ultimately contributing to the empowerment and employability of female garment workers. The project is funded by Care Bangladesh
∎ Project duration: Up to December, 2024
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Assessing clients: PSS counselor s are responsible for assessing clients to understand their unique situations, challenges, and needs.
∎ Developing treatment plans: PSS counselor s assess clients and develop treatment plans with goals, objectives, and interventions. Counselor collaborate with clients to adjust plans as needed during counseling.
∎ Providing psychosocial counseling, couple counseling, (family counseling when needed), GBV service support, legal support, case management support to the survivors
∎ PSS counselor will provide individual and group counseling session to survivors' of GBV, regarding this he will be applied the various approach of counseling /Psychotherapy.
∎ Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly and different periodic report when asked to feed M&E report along with other documentation requirement
∎ Advocacy: PSS counselor s may act as advocates for their clients by representing them in various settings, such as in the workplace, home ect.
∎ PSS counselor will provide individual, group and couple counseling session into the (04) four WFS. Besides the conducting the counseling sessions, he/she will responsible to follow the case management approach where intake to integration steps would be applied.
∎ Based on the needs and risks of the cases or survivors, the PSS counselors will refer to appropriate GOs.NGOs services centers related to adverse mental health issues, legal issues and others socio-economical or livelihood options.
∎ Documentation: PSS counselor maintain confidential records of clients' treatment plans, progress, and outcomes to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
∎ Prepare monthly working plan and monthly working report to the supervisor
∎ Maintain the professional ethics while providing counseling services to the clients
∎ PSS counselor s help individuals and groups cope with emotional and psychological issues, developing treatment plans, providing counseling, advocating for clients' rights and needs, and referring clients to other professionals as necessary.
∎ After conducting counseling sessions, counselors will document all details including case studies, counseling process, mental state assessment, and create a case file as part of case management process responsible for executing and documenting intake, assessment, action plan, PSS intervention, referral, integration, and case conferences.
∎ The PSS counselor will liaise with government and non-governmental organizations to maintain quality legal aid, physical, and GBV-related services after networking with similar organizations.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 25 years
∎ Training in Case Management, Basic Counseling, CBT, and Management Information Systems (MIS), GBV, PFA will be treated as extra quality;
∎ Good operating skills of Microsoft Office (especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint) with software operation and reporting will be treated as essential skills; and
∎ Required to have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English & Bangla;
