∎ Visual Arts-related degree, Degree in Photography, Design, related field, and/or previous experience in an equivalent work experience
∎ Experience:
∎ Minimum of 4-5 years of commercial creative retouching experience and international client projects. Must have experience with the Mac/Apple ecosystem.
∎ Workplace: On-Site
∎ Working Hours: 12 noon to 9 PM (Monday to Friday)
∎ Holidays: According to the USA holiday calendar
Responsibilities & Context:
∎ A Quality Control (QC) Specialist in the image retouching field is responsible for ensuring that edited images meet the required quality standards before they are delivered to clients or published. Their responsibilities typically include:
∎ 1. Image Quality Inspection
∎ Review retouched images for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to client or brand guidelines.
∎ Check for issues such as color inconsistencies, incorrect cropping, unnatural retouching, artifacts, or pixelation.
∎ Ensure images meet technical specifications (resolution, format, dimensions, file size, etc.).
∎ 2. Consistency & Brand Guidelines
∎ Verify that images align with the brand’s visual identity and style guide.
∎ Ensure uniformity across batches of images, especially in e-commerce, fashion, or product photography. 3. Retouching & Editing Feedback
∎ Identify flaws and provide constructive feedback to retouchers.
∎ Suggest improvements in skin retouching, background cleanup, color grading, compositing, and relevant areas.
∎ Approve or reject images based on quality standards, requirements and guidelines.
∎ 4. Color Correction & Proofing
∎ Assess color accuracy, white balance, and exposure levels.
∎ Compare retouched images to reference images or original files to maintain fidelity.
∎ 5. Workflow & Process Optimization
∎ Collaborate with retouching teams to enhance efficiency in the editing process.
∎ Develop or refine QC checklists and best practices.
∎ Assist in guiding new retouchers in terms of quality standards.
∎ 6. Software & Tools Usage
∎ Use software like Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One, or Bridge to review and validate images.
∎ Utilize file management systems to organize and track image versions.
∎ 7. Client & Project Coordination
∎ Communicate with clients or internal teams to clarify expectations.
∎ Ensure that deadlines are met without compromising quality.
∎ 8. Compliance & Industry Standards
∎ Verify that retouched images follow ethical and industry standards (e.g., no excessive modification in advertising, appropriate image licensing, etc.).
∎ 9. Assist/Execute Retouching work
∎ Must have the capability to execute retouching techniques such as clipping path, image masking, color correction, background removal, ghost mannequin, product retouching, light/shadow retouching, etc.
