Responsibilities & Context:
∎ An exciting role at Practical Action in Bangladesh has arisen for a dynamic, organized, and inquisitive individual. This position is based in Faridpur/Satkhira, Bangladesh with an excellent opportunity of contributing to the positive changes of climate distressed people. The successful applicant will ensure strong analytical, and coordination skills. The post-holder will give substantial data collection and community mobilization support to the multi-level research and engagement project that focuses on systems change to assess the challenges in – and opportunities for – integrating compounding, cascading risks to food systems into existing early warning systems (EWS). This project will improve understanding of how cascading risks to food systems are experienced at the community level, and how well communities, relief actors and essential food system value chains respond to EWS information, based on case studies. We intend to develop recommendations for at-risk communities and institutional decision makers on how to strengthen the integration of cascading risks in EWS and on how to improve early warning and anticipatory actions to mitigate the impacts on local food systems and thus enhance food security.

∎ ·      Collect and analyze data.
∎ ·      Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of the interviewee as necessary.
∎ ·      Schedule and conduct interviews. Select a place to conduct interviews and obtain permission from all participants. Summarize interviews.
∎ ·      Provide ready access to all collected data for the project team.
∎ ·      Prepare findings and update databases to include newfound information and create a summary of that analysis to pass on to the line manager.
∎ ·      Assist other researchers with various tasks, including data entry, sampling, and storage, field research, statistical analysis, and presentation preparation.
∎ ·      Verify numerical data in both digital and written form, ensuring that any errors that may occur during transcription are eliminated.
∎ ·      Create research summaries in multiple formats, including spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and written summaries.
∎ ·      Handle necessary administrative paperwork and other documentation needed for project validation and research quality control.
∎ ·      Plan schedule according to a variety of methods to be used, availability and quantity of resources.
∎ ·      Discuss findings with other personnel to evaluate the validity of findings.
∎ ·      Prepare reports of completed projects for publication, for presentation to the agency requesting project, or for use in further applied or theoretical research activities.
∎ ·      Work closely with program/project manager and thematic lead to use the knowledge products to meet advocacy objectives of the projects.
∎ ·      Prepare the monthly/quarterly/annual/donor report and shared it with respected colleagues.
∎ ·      Prepare progress reports for Practical Action and donor agency.
∎ ·      Any other duties consistent with the nature, level and grade of the post as may be required.
∎ Engagement in other climate and resilience Programme Activities (10%)
∎ ·      Provide support to project team in implementing relevant climate and resilince project activities.
∎ ·      Identify continuous improvements and lessons learned.
