Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Liaise with relevant National and Local Government departments and Ministries, other development and research partners (host, plan facilitate events, field visits, training, advocacy and influencing events).
∎ Conduct regular meetings with the Govt. official for mainstreaming the Disaster Alert apps by the govt. authority.
∎ Where appropriate represent the organization at a national & regional level, liaise with relevant stakeholders on digital innovations in Early Warning System and information sharing practices.
∎ An exciting role at Practical Action in Bangladesh has arisen for a dynamic, organized, and inquisitive individual to support us implementing the project on Digital Innovation in Early Warning Systems: Building Climate Resilience in Bangladesh. The successful applicant will ensure to management and implement this ICT-focused project related activities. The post-holder will give substantial project management support to the Climate and Resilience Project team in Bangladesh.
∎ Project Implementation (50%)
∎ · Provide technical leadership for implementing the project activities.
∎ · Lead on the “Disaster Alert Apps” and “Digital Weather Board” operational process ensuring compliance with ICT policies, supported by IT team of pA.
∎ · Prepare the project budget and activity plan and forecast it to the project staff and day to day monitor the progress of project activities.
∎ ·  Effectively monitor uses of project budget in timely manner.
∎ · Maintain effective working relationships with partners, national and local government like (BMD, FFWC, CPP, DDM, DAE, MoDMR among others)
∎ ·  Organize, facilitate events, meeting with stakeholders.
∎ · Prepare ToR for consultancies, manage consultants, technical partner as required for the project.
∎ ·  Manage and oversee all field level interventions.
∎ · Visit field periodically to work with field staff and capture knowledge and prepare initial draft of the knowledge product as well as to support them in doing so.
∎ ·  Conduct regular field visit and monitor the functionality of digital interventions under the climate resilience portfolio.
∎ · Regularly update the features of ‘Disaster Alert Apps’ and support in training and organizing up the community people & project staffs for its operations, find out its obligations of their operations, troubleshot the problems along with IT team, technical consultant among others.
∎ ·  Coordinate and manage consultancies related to the project.
∎ · Coordinate with Climate and Resilience team within Practical Action for inputs in the drafted knowledge products and research work and ensure that all inputs are incorporated in the final document.
∎ · Work closely with project team and thematic lead to use the knowledge products, communication material, project and policy briefs to meet advocacy objectives of the projects.
∎ ·  Prepare the monthly/quarterly/annual/donor report.
∎ · Conduct regular field visits and monitor against the theory of change, activity plan and advocacy plan progress and accordingly plan to achieve the implementation and Advocacy gaps.
∎ · Act as the project’s principal client contact in undertaking the duties in the job description.
∎ Advocacy and Influencing (30%)
∎ Liaise with relevant National and Local Government departments and Ministries, other development and research partners (host, plan facilitate events, field visits, training, advocacy and influencing events).
∎ · Conduct regular field visits and monitor against the theory of change, knowledge plan and advocacy plan and accordingly plan to achieve the knowledge and Advocacy gaps.
∎ Conduct regular meetings with the Govt. official for mainstreaming the Disaster Alert apps by the govt. authority.
∎ Where appropriate represent the organization at a national & regional level, liaise with relevant stakeholders on digital innovations in Early Warning System and information sharing practices.
∎ Dissemination of Project Knowledge (10%)
∎ · Coordinate dissemination plan and delivery of the knowledge products
∎ · Add all planned outputs to the knowledge plan in knowledge pipeline including amendments of dates and production status.
∎ · Lead the work in coordination with project and communication team.
∎ · Liaise with communication team in production of relevant material as well as managing project related internal/external events, knowledge and communication products as required from donor.
∎ Engagement in Country Programme Activities (5%)
∎ · Provide support to project team for relevant climate and resilience project activities.
∎ ·  Maintain and update implementation plans for the assigned work package. Identify continuous improvements and lessons learned.
∎ ·  Any other duties consistent with the nature, level and grade of the post as may be required.
