Job Context:
∎ About Terre des hommes:
∎ Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is the leading Swiss INGO focusing on child rights. It is active in more than 30 countries with development and emergency projects. Tdh interventions are focused on the three programs: Health, Migration and Access to Justice particularly for vulnerable children. Tdh Foundation has a transversal approach towards Child Protection programming and it cuts across all the thematic areas while also has been considered as one of the key value propositions in its business model. The Child Protection expertise within Tdh Foundation aims to develop high quality, evidence-based knowledge and know-how adapted to fragile contexts, conflict zones, and development to improve the protection of children`s rights and their right to protection from all forms of violence (art 19, 34 CRC) in collaboration with and in support of the three core programs. The Tdh Foundation global strategy 2021-2024 specifies that they will have demonstrated that rights-based participation, empowerment, and active involvement of children and communities in defining and implementing responses are essential to improve child protection.
∎ Context:
∎ Tdh is working in Bangladesh since 1974, with operations in Kurigram district, Dhaka district and Cox Bazaar district. Currently, Tdh is implementing programs on Health, Access to Justice (social cohesion and conflict resolution) and Migration, integrated by the transversal expertise of WASH and Child protection. Tdh interventions in Bangladesh are both in development and emergency context.
∎ Following the massive displacement of more than 800,000 people into Bangladesh since the end of August 2017, Tdh has put in place an important emergency response plan to provide relief to the Rohingya refugees, notably on Health, WASH, Child Protection and Social cohesion. Alongside, Tdh is implementing the CLARISSA project in Dhaka slums aiming to build a strong evidence base and generate innovative solutions to the worst forms of child labour (WFCL) and will explore how to take these solutions to scale.
∎ Tdh in Bangladesh has started the process of integration of emergency and development approaches and aims to capitalize on its institutional learning for further programme expansion and to create critical pathways for evidence-based advocacy.
∎ General objective:
∎ Under the guidance and supervision of the Project Manager, the Social Cohesion Trainer will implement the project activities with the support of PSS Team Leader, M&E Officer and Data Assistant. He/She will responsible to organize and conduct the social cohesion activities within the operational geographical areas both in the host community and Rohingya camps.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Specific (main) responsibilities :
∎ Perform as one of 8 Core Trainers to provide training and facilitation on Social Cohesion and
∎ Conflict Transformation Activities on a regular basis, and ensure community based initiative
∎ implementation
∎ Participate in an advanced training on Conflict Transformation and Social Cohesion, Women's
∎ leadership building and women engagement in policy making process.
∎ Participate in a training-of-trainers capacity building on conflict mediation
∎ To identify and select the potential beneficiaries from host community and Tdh operational
∎ camps through community outreach and mobilization.
∎ To identify active female beneficiaries for the women empowerment activites
∎ To identify cases of disputes and work with communities for implementing conflict mitigation
∎ processes to address those cases, taking into account the communities' context and culture.
∎ To mobilize the beneficiaries for particular trainings and different community activities
∎ To ensure active participation of beneficiaries during activity period
∎ Maintain communication with local government and camp authorities
∎ Regular reporting as per project timeline and the targets
∎ To conduct regular communication with the Project manager and international consultants on
∎ activities updates, achievements and feedback from the beneficiairies.
∎ To mobilize the community in the focused program in a non-discriminatory as well as age and
∎ gender and disability sensitive and appropriate approach.
∎ Arrange focus group discussion between community groups, stakeholders, leaders and women
∎ organization for project planning, implementation and monitoring .
∎ To implement different activities, and trainings as needed among the community with ensuring
∎ community engagement
∎ Participate in field assessments and evaluations as and when required
∎ Regularly report activity progress to the PM, in close coordination with M&E Officer and Data Assistant.
∎ Coordination and Representation:
∎ To engage with community and community representatives to understand needs and gaps of
∎ community perception and culture practice
∎ To engage and coordinate with local women organizations, community leaders and different community engagement groups as needed.
∎ Other responsibilities:
∎ Ensuring the implementation of Tdh's Child Safeguarding and PSEA policies during activities
∎ implementation
∎ Follow the process of report on any sensitive issues to the Tdh focal person.
∎ Respect and abide to the organization's internal code of conduct and child protection policy
∎ Any other tasks as assigned by the respective management

Additional Requirements:
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ A strong interest and desire to work with communities in and around Teknaf.
∎ At least 3 years' experience in community-level activities, humanitarian and/or developmental organization or experienced in working on social cohesion activities or project(s)
∎ Proven experience in similar role particularly in social cohesion, community activism and peacebuilding.
∎ Strong proficiency in English and Bengali is required, competency in Rohingya language will be an asset.
∎ Ability to demonstrate interactive engagement with selected communities, accross different age groups, among the host and/or refugee communities.
∎ Ability to organize and conduct training with strong facilitation skill.
∎ Strong communication and active listening skills is encouraging and adapted to work with remote team
∎ Ability to work under pressure
