Responsibilities & Context:
∎ CODEC is an inheritor of DANIDA Bangladesh derived from couple of project intervention explicitly DANIDA Boat Building Project and Boat Rental Scheme. CODEC has been working as a people centered development organization since 1985.CODEC has been growing and evolving into efficient and effective non-governmental development organization in the coastal area of Bangladesh. From the beginning of its development intervention, CODEC started its activities only with the fisherfolk communities but over the period CODEC now extended its working area with other disadvantaged coastal communities along with the fisherfolk community in the exposed coastal districts in Bangladesh.
∎ Community Development Centre (CODEC) invites applications for the following positions from potential Bangladeshi nationals for our “Climate-Resilient Agricultural Empowerment in Khulna (CRAEK)” Project funded by USAID and BRAC will provide technical assistance to increase Agriculture and Food Security through Access to Quality Inputs, Access to Extension Services, Market Linkages, Post-Harvest Loss and Waste awareness under USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project.
∎ The project will work 4 Upazila of Khulna District- Dacope, Koyra, Paikgacha and Batiaghata Upazila. The project is designed to benefit 7,200 direct beneficiaries and 27,000 indirect beneficiaries across the four targeted upazilas in Khulna District. To achieve this, the project will focus on selecting the five most climate-vulnerable unions within each upazila.
∎ The program is implemented through an integrated approach building synergies across 4 (four) program elements with the objectives of achieving the following results through interrelated components:
∎ Improve the Availability, Adoption, and Sustainable Use of High-Yielding, Climate-Resilient Agricultural Inputs ·
∎ Improve Farmers’ Knowledge of Modern Farming Practices, Post-Harvest Handling, and Market Linkages through Digital Solutions and Private Sector Engagement ·
∎ Establish and Strengthen the Market Supply Chain for Smallholder Farmers by Connecting Them with Local Vendors, Community Markets, and High-Value Markets, Including F-Commerce and E-Commerce Platforms·
∎ Implement Modern Technologies and Practices to Minimize Post-Harvest Losses of Agricultural Production through Improved Storage, Transportation, and Packaging.
∎ Responsibilities:
∎ Upazila Coordinator will play a lead role in the coordination of programmatic activities. S/he will receive implementation and coordination guidance from the Project Manager as well as technical team of USAID Bangladesh America Maitree Project. He or she will actively collaborate with Upazila level GoB officials, partners, and relevant private sector stakeholders to support the implementation of programmatic activities and the achievement of program objectives to ensure the program's smooth operation.
∎ In collaboration with the Project Manager, he or she will develop detailed Implementation Plan for each month and update quarterly and ensure its efficient implementation.
∎ Program Management and Coordination ·
∎ Oversee all aspects of the project, ensuring alignment with objectives, timelines, and outcomes.·
∎ Manage day-to-day operations and coordinate with staff and stakeholders.·
∎ Manage work plan and budget, operations, implementation, monitoring and reporting.·
∎ Responsible for implementing innovative and sustainable agricultural techniques to increase productivity and food security among vulnerable populations.
∎ Representation, Communication & Reporting:
∎ a. Prepare weekly reports, monthly reports, and other program reports for Maitree management team as needed.
∎ b. S/he will foster meaningful collaboration and coordination among project teams, implementing partners, and local stakeholders to ensure responsiveness to community needs through engaging women, ethnic, and marginalized underrepresented groups.
∎ c. Maintain liaison with GoB/NGO officials, local elite and other key formal and informal sectors/leaders in the area.
∎ d. In consultation with Project Manager, disseminate new information, lessons learnt, government’s new policies and programs etc. to the appropriate forums when needed.
∎ e. Responsible for organizing comprehensive training for farmers, lead farmers, women, men, and youth on modern farming practices, post-harvest handling, and the use of digital services.
∎ f. S/he is responsible for raising awareness about food security and biodiversity fosters a holistic understanding of the interconnections within ecosystems, promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
∎ g. Identify potential environmental impacts and propose mitigation measures and will also consult with local communities and environmental experts, reflecting the Department of Environment’s emphasis on public participation and transparency.
∎ h. Promote sustainable agricultural practices, including integrated soil fertility management, efficient water use, and biodiversity conservation to prevent the risk of soil degradation, water scarcity, biodiversity loss, pesticide runoff, and waste management issues.
∎ i. Establish feedback mechanisms to allow community members to voice their concerns and contribute to project decisions, ensuring transparency and inclusivity throughout the project lifecycle.
∎ S/he should abide by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC)’s six core principles on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy. Ensure the safety of team members (in respect to Prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse - PSEA) from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program's goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
