Responsibilities & Context:
∎ A Welding & Piping Inspector is responsible for ensuring that welding and piping systems are installed, maintained, and repaired according to industry standards and project specifications. Their job responsibilities typically include:
∎ 1. Inspection and Testing
∎ *Inspect welds and piping systems to ensure they meet applicable codes, standards, and specifications (e.g., ASME, API).
∎ *Conduct visual inspections of welds and piping, checking for defects like cracks, porosity, or incomplete penetration.
∎ *Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing.
∎ 2. Compliance and Documentation
∎ *Ensure that all welding and piping activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
∎ *Verify that the materials used in welding and piping are appropriate and conform to project specifications.
∎ *Review and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
∎ *Document inspection results, including any defects or issues, and report them to the appropriate personnel.
∎ 3. Quality Assurance
∎ *Monitor welding procedures and practices to ensure consistency and quality.
∎ *Check that welders and pipefitters are qualified and certified for the specific types of work they are performing.
∎ *Ensure that welding equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
∎ 4. Coordination and Communication
∎ *Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and construction teams to address any issues related to welding and piping.
∎ *Provide guidance and recommendations for corrective actions if defects or non-conformities are found.
∎ *Coordinate with third-party inspectors or auditors during external inspections.
∎ 5. Training and Supervision
∎ *Train and mentor junior inspectors or other personnel involved in welding and piping.
∎ *Supervise and oversee welding and piping activities to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
∎ 6. Safety Oversight
∎ *Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all welding and piping activities are conducted in a safe manner.
∎ *Conduct safety audits and risk assessments related to welding and piping operations.
∎ 7. Project Reporting
∎ *Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain records of inspections, tests, and repairs.
∎ *Report to senior management or clients on the status of welding and piping systems, highlighting any issues or areas of concern.

In addition to its many years of experience in building all sizes of onshore pipelines, TECHNIC has developed additional capabilities in the fields of hydrostatic testing, pigging, dewatering and drying, commissioning, fabrication and installation of pig-launcher, pig-receiver, mainline valve station, pressure regulating and metering station, town border station and installation of cathodic protection system .
