Educational Requirements:

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Uphold Abt Associates values and exercise them throughout tenure
∎ Provide technical leadership in the implementation of the project's Gender Strategy
∎ Provide training and support to the technical staff in other disciplines (agriculture market systems, nutrition, social behavior change (SBC), and WASH) on how to approach their tasks in a gender-sensitive way
∎ As part of the senior project team, contribute to the Activity's monitoring, evaluation, and learning agenda by helping customize appropriate women's and adolescents' empowerment indicators and by formulating relevant learning questions to be studied during implementation
∎ Champion innovative and nimble methods to empower women and adolescents within the context of a market systems, facilitative approach
∎ With the Deputy Chief of Party or his/her designee, develop regular bullets summarizing activity progress, challenges, successes, and learning
∎ In conjunction with the Home Office, narrate the relevant sections of the annual and quarterly reports
∎ Contribute to the development of detailed annual work plans and budgets, ensuring integration and effective coordination and planning of gender and youth programming throughout all technical activities
∎ Undertake regular field visits to target locations to observe progress and provide assistance to the local implementing partners
∎ Liaise with relevant community representatives, donors, and local government institutes where required
∎ Other duties as required

Additional Requirements:
∎ (8+) years of experience and a master degree OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
∎ At least seven years of experience working in designing and delivering pragmatic gender and/or youth empowerment strategies and interventions that will lead to positive equality outcomes for women and children. Experience working in South Asia will be an asset.
∎ Excellent understanding of gender and women's empowerment issues at a programmatic level
∎ Prior experience working on donor-funded projects, preferably with USAID
∎ Ability to remain organized and focused on long-term vision and strategy
∎ Confidence and ability to coordinate technical staff, foster team work, and ensure high standards of excellence
∎ Willingness to travel to the ZoI at least 25% of the time
∎ Excellent English language proficiency, including report writing skills
