Job Context:
∎ CWFD emerged from an emotional response to help women in need of reproductive health care counseling. The organization, originally named as "Concerned Women for Family Planning (CWFP), started its voluntary activities in 1974 to help the refuge coming to Dhaka city after the devastating famine of 1974. The organization was registered in 1975 with Directorate of Social welfare and formally launched its project activities in 1976 with only 5 female staff to cover an area of Dhaka city slum comprising around 50,000 people. ∎ Project background: Concerned Women for Family Development receive funds from United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to implement Generation Breakthrough Project: Phase-II `Improving the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including Maternal, Newborn and Adolescent Health in Bangladesh (ImSRHRMNAH,B)`. This project aims to address gender- based violence (GBV) in Bangladesh by establishing linkages to adolescents` sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender equity, with a focus on engaging boys and girls improving relationship building skills. As a part of delivering adolescent friendly health services, `Improving Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including maternal and new born health in Bangladesh` project create linkage for tele-counseling and referral services to different service providers on sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence. The primary target groups of this helpline and adolescent friendly health service are adolescents aged 10-19 years.
∎ Similarly, CWFD working with UNFPA for the national humanitarian response, the A&Y programme unit of UNFPA receive funds from Australia (AUB10). That fund are being used to implement Phase II of the A&Y Humanitarian Photography Project in host communities of Cox`s Bazar, in view of providing COVID-19 sensitive skills building opportunities for young people.

∎ Job Summary: The role of Communication Officer is to gather information and produce a wide range of materials about CWFD`s activities in the humanitarian crisis response for internal and external dissemination. This position will operationally support Head of Adolescent and Youth Programme to lead field communications for CWFD`s activities; to appropriately engage with its various public engagement audiences and support CWFD`s advocacy efforts, while protecting and promoting CWFD`s response work to effectively assist in preparing all required key communication products and statements. Assist to Enable CWFD A&Y Humanitarian Photography Project to pro-actively engage all stakeholders (both internal and external) to increase their awareness and understanding of the needs of affected children, families and communities. Contribute to enhancing organizational capacity to effectively and proactively position CWFD`s activities as a leading development national organization in Bangladesh.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Media and public relations
∎ Develop and implement a communication strategy around key CWFD events, projects and publications
∎ Enhance the visibility of CWFD with national level media and institutional stakeholders
∎ Ensure strong day to day working relationships with key officials working in Cox's Bazar areas in order to have a better understanding of the information they need and adapt communications output accordingly
∎ Draft press releases, alerts, opinion pieces and articles on project advocacy actions to secure regular positive coverage for the organization in key media outlets at national levels
∎ Develop, maintain and update a database of journalist, media outlets and other relevant contacts; and keep track of media coverage
∎ Coordinate and respond to press and other enquiries
∎ Content development
∎ Prepare draft, proofread and edit all types of project related content (e.g. letters, speeches,
∎ Develop papers and briefings, website content, blogs, publications, campaign narratives, etc.), in a consistent style and tone
∎ Contribute to developing and expanding online/social media profiles (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) with the other members of the communications team
∎ To contribute to drafting and editing of the content of CWFD/projects various documents
∎ To contribute to the drafting and editing of CWFD annual report, organizational documents and major publications, as required
∎ Capacity-building
∎ Together with the Programme Team, develop training materials and modules to strengthen the capacity of youth leaders on strategic communication
∎ To develop materials to enhance the capacity of youth leaders to work on humanitarian photography.
∎ Support Technical Officers in taking photographs, videos and writing case stories.

∎ A very high standard of written and spoken English
∎ Excellent ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a wide range of audiences, including policy makers, activists, journalists and elected leaders.

∎ Participate in different meeting/seminar as a member of the wider CWFD team
∎ Assist to CWFD/Project conference, seminars, meetings and other events, take notes and draft reports on such events as required
∎ Ensure compliance with such laws and regulations as may be applicable to the operations of the outreach work
∎ Prepare reports, discussion papers, briefs and other appropriate documents for meetings of the conference, seminars, meetings, different events and other internal meetings
∎ To undertake other duties that may be reasonably required from time to time.
∎ Liaison/coordination with all concerned.
∎ Ensure that project staff determine and maintain liaison/coordination with the local level stakeholders.
∎ Establish and maintain liaison/coordination with other projects'/ departments within the organization.
∎ Establish and maintain liaison/coordination with the partner organizations, i.e, GOs, NGOs and donor agencies relevant to the project.
∎ Establish and maintain liaison/coordination with local administration at the district, Upazila and Union level. Maintain regular communication with District and Upazila Education Officer, Women and Children Affairs Officer, UNFPA, Health, Family Planning officers and service providers and local administration for smooth operation of the program activities.
∎ Monitoring and Evaluation of the project activities.
∎ Plan for the monitoring activities of the project as per project plan and need.
∎ Review the monitoring activities of the staff and gather the information, generate reports for all concerned, and undertake corrective measures as per monitoring findings.
∎ Participate in the internal evaluation process and take corrective measures as per findings of the evaluation report.
∎ Submit report to the Head of Adolescent and Youth Program, on the progress and achievements; also report on weak points and suggest solutions.
∎ Provide necessary supports to the evaluation team

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 years' experience in managerial position and minimum 1-year experiences in working in emergency relief distribution. Sound knowledge on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, and experienced in presenting project status in the high-level meeting and workshop with the donors; GO & NGO officials; innovative, dynamic, hardworking and have good interpersonal relationship and ability to work in a team; willing to work in pressure situation and interested to visit the remote areas of Bangladesh.
∎ Line of responsibility: The Communication Officer is directly reportable to the Head of Adolescent and Youth Programme.

Salary:
∎ BDT 55,000/- per month (including all other benefits).
