Responsibilities & Context

• Gamete Handling: Collect, identify, assess, and prepare oocytes (eggs) and sperm for assisted reproductive procedures.
• IVF and ICSI Procedures: Perform IVF insemination and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) according to approved clinical protocols and professional standards.
• Embryo Culture and Monitoring: Culture embryos under controlled laboratory conditions and monitor their development, quality, and grading.
• Embryo Transfer Support: Prepare selected embryos for fresh or frozen embryo transfer in coordination with the treating physician.
• Cryopreservation: Perform vitrification and warming of oocytes and embryos, and manage cryopreserved samples according to established protocols.
• Semen Analysis: Conduct semen analysis, sperm preparation, and sperm selection for IVF, ICSI, and other assisted reproductive techniques.
• Laboratory Quality Control: Monitor incubators, microscopes, laminar airflow cabinets, gas levels, temperature, humidity, and other critical laboratory parameters.
• Patient and Sample Identification: Maintain accurate patient identification, specimen labeling, witnessing, and traceability at every stage of laboratory procedures.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain complete and accurate records of fertilization rates, embryo development, embryo grading, cryopreservation, warming, and laboratory outcomes.
• Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper functioning of IVF laboratory equipment and coordinate preventive maintenance, calibration, and servicing.
• Infection Control and Safety: Follow aseptic techniques, infection prevention measures, laboratory safety procedures, and applicable biosecurity requirements.
• Inventory Management: Monitor laboratory consumables, culture media, reagents, and other supplies, ensuring proper storage, expiry monitoring, and timely replenishment.
• Quality Assurance: Participate in internal quality audits, quality control activities, incident reporting, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Team Coordination: Coordinate with fertility consultants, nurses, laboratory colleagues, and other clinical staff to ensure smooth patient treatment and laboratory operations.
• Confidentiality and Ethics: Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with ethical standards, organizational policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Training and Development: Participate in professional training, competency assessments, and updates on new assisted reproductive technologies and laboratory practices.
