Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Conducts individual and group counseling for women, GBV survivors, couples and their family members
∎ Work with the project team for assessing need of PSS services in the camps and host communities
∎ Conducts awareness raising session for the groups and/or at community levels
∎ Contributes to the quality, timely and effective implementation of PSS services on gender, GBV and protection
∎ Ensures quality implementation of identified psychological activities following JNUS and UN Women policy and other international humanitarian standards
∎ Properly documents all information related to the survivors and psycho-social counseling
∎ Maintains strict confidentiality of all related information of the survivors following standard ethical practices
∎ Contributes in preparing the report on psycho-social related activities
∎ Assess the survivors’ psychological condition and extend psychological support and subsequent follow up or referral
∎ Maintain regular contact with the ‘Service Providers’ for referrals and better support
∎ Facilitate capacity-building trainings for the project staff on mental health related issues
∎ Conducts regular awareness raising sessions with target communities/groups
∎ Prepare progress reports combining both quantitative and qualitative information
∎ Serve as the key focal point for psychological service at MPWC
∎ Undertake visits and consult with community people for identifying issues, collecting information and document lessons learned
∎ Liaise with service providers for ensuring smooth operations and effective referrals
∎ Identify concerns related to program implementation and share with the project team.
∎ Work with relevant stakeholders including humanitarian actors and communities/ leaders for better coordination and support.
∎ Responsible for the psycho-social service, maintenance of equipment and other materials with support from other project staff.
∎ Be sympathized to the survivors and listens to their voices and treat them accordingly
∎ Ensures proper utilization of GBV and SRH standardized protocols, guidelines and procedures
∎ Identifies and flags challenges and recommends mitigation measures for improved services
∎ Works closely with JNUS operations staff for ensuring timely and compliant program implementation
∎ Ensures all activities are carried out in accordance with JNUS policies and procedures.
∎ Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable or develop JNUS programming
∎ Job Overview/Summary: The Psycho-Social Counselor will work closely with the project team at camps and in host communities with an aim to improve the survivor’s mental health, wellbeing and psychosocial conditions. She will support the project team through providing guidance and capacity building for the implementation of quality psychosocial care and mental health activities. She will assist the MPWC Outreach Officers in identification of women and girls in need of specific psychological counseling and ensuring individual or group support for identified survivors. She will work in collaboration with other project staff.
∎ RESPONSIBILITIES:
