∎ The Senior Designer & Product Developer (Sweater) will be accountable for developing seasonal collections from design concept through to prototypes up to SMS. The incumbent will be responsible for producing detailed tech packs and following the complete development of product from initial drawings to final sample, liaising with factories or in-house sampling team to follow progress according to established timelines, sourcing trims and yarns, ordering raw materials and communicating with vendors to ensure price and delivery goals can be successfully achieved.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Work closely with the internal cross-functional partners in Design, Technical, and Merchandising on a daily basis and throughout the process to maintain a strong and aligned vision on the product direction from beginning to end.
∎ Execute and follow-up on developments and sampling up to SMS
∎ Coordinate with factories and suppliers for any new developments, sourcing, and sampling
∎ Prepare time and action plan (T&A) for customer developments and maintain T&A calendar for all new development sample requests received from customer and analyze the yarn, knitting parameters, trims requirement, washing detail and ensure samples are made right the first time
∎ Liaise with the respective merchandisers and keep close follow up of T&A calendar on all SMS samples to ensure timely delivery
∎ Use computer-aided design (CAD) programs to create prototypes and translate sketches into detailed tech packs for every style utilizing designer’s initial flat sketch, BOM and specific construction to create garments
∎ Create sampling requests through MIS with proper techpacks and generate a product file style wise
∎ Work closely with the sample room and oversee the sampling process and identify possible problems or issues and help to resolve them
∎ Prepare the showroom prior to customer visits including styling for presentations, validation handouts and look-books for customers and also attend customer meetings and take visit notes
∎ Maintain and make available all technical data for Design and Merchandising prior to costing during the development phase
∎ Prepare and continuously update the yarn, trims, print, embroideries, washes, and stitch library including technical data and price ideas for easy reference
∎ Conduct Risk analysis during product development
∎ Prepare cost sheet of the product/sample
∎ Follow up on the sampling status regularly to meet deadlines and ensure accurate samples
∎ Communicate about development status with concern Merchandiser/ Designer
∎ Work closely with technical team to resolve fit, pattern, and grading issues with vendors prior to issuing bulk production approval
∎ Maintain recap sheet for all developments including proto and SMS samples
∎ Handover the styles to Merchandisers along with all the product details and technical information after any order is confirmed
∎ Check proto samples to ensure design and quality standards on final products
∎ Check production feasibility with technical team, define construction parameters etc.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 6 years’ work experience in Design & Product Development for the Sweater category
∎ In-depth knowledge of yarns and stitches.
∎ In-depth knowledge and work experience on Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
∎ Must have extensive experience of product development, accessories, costing and execution of techpacks independently
∎ Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact and build relationships work as a team
∎ Should be well-groomed, smart and energetic
∎ Strong presentation and delivery skills
∎ Strong attention to detail and accuracy, aiming for perfection
∎ Excellent written and verbal communication both in Bangla and English
∎ IT proficiency - advance level skill is a MUST in MS Office package (Especially PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
∎ Should be proactive and dynamic, ability to work hard efficiently
∎ Ability to multitask and remain organized, meet deadlines
