Job Responsibilities:
∎ Project Background: The ready-made garment (RMG) sector valued at USD 42 billion is the core of the Bangladesh economy. 84% of exports are attributed to the RMG sector and it is a significant source of employment for 4.4 million people, of whom 65 - 85% are women. However, the sector has a significant environmental footprint and factories are operating on unsustainable practices. The challenge to spur this growth lies in several areas, including water supply, polluting discharges, power generation and access to finance. There is additional stress on water supply due to climate variability and change and the increasing frequency of extreme events such as floods, storms and droughts). This data calls for immediate action.

∎ To address these issues, IFC, with support from the Danish and Netherlands Government, leading apparel brands, have launched the PaCT II: Partnership for Cleaner Textile. The overall program goal of PaCT II is to deepen Cleaner Production (CP) interventions and enhance competitiveness of the sector across the entire value chain of the textile sector of Bangladesh including textile mills, wet dyeing and finishing units and garment factories. This will be done through adoption of resource efficient technologies and practices by participating factories which will lead to cost savings and operational efficiencies through reduced water, energy, chemical use and GHG emissions.
∎ For its second phase, the PaCT Program will engage at three levels - through the following Components:
∎ Component 1: Factory level diagnostics on Cleaner Production; Client level customized solutions; Brand level support
∎ Component 2: Group of firm's level support
∎ Component 3: Enhance sector competitiveness

Additional Requirements:
∎ A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional experience, prior experience of working in a development organization is a pre-requisite.
∎ Strong communications skills including excellent report writing skills, particularly in developing technical communication material, infographics, case studies and websites.
∎ Ability to develop, analyse and articulate technical content pertaining to the project.
∎ Working experience in garment and textile sector is desirable.
∎ A strong contact network with media houses/journalists, and event management firms.
∎ Ability to work with limited supervision and to think strategically and independently.
∎ Proficiency in English and Bengali
