Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Community Partners International (CPI) is a U.S. based nonprofit organization that works with local partner organization Green Hill to expand access to quality health services and generate the resources, local capacity, and coordination necessary for partners and the people to meet their own health and community needs.
∎ Purpose of the Position:
∎ The main purpose of the "NCD Technical Assistant" position is to provide care and support for individuals with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in limited resource settings, including refugee camps. The position involves working with Community Health Workers (CHWs) to deliver basic NCD care and management at the community level, in collaboration with healthcare facilities. The NCD Technical Assistant's objective is to improve access to NCD services, enhance community awareness, and ensure continuity of care for individuals with NCDs.
∎ Primary Responsibilities:
∎ ● Screening and identification of NCD patients: Technical Assistant-NCD is responsible for identifying individuals with NCDs within the targeted setting. S/he performs screenings to identify those at risk or already affected by NCDs, ensuring early detection and intervention.
∎ ● Education and Support: Provides education and ongoing support to individuals with NCDs. S/he offers guidance on self-management, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and other necessary interventions to promote better health outcomes.
∎ ● Collaboration with Healthcare Facilities: S/he works closely with CHVs and healthcare facilities to ensure coordination and continuity of care. Assist in the referral process, facilitate communication between Community Health Volunteers or health service providers. Contribute to community-level care and ensure overall management of NCDs.
∎ ● Community Outreach: Engages in community outreach activities to raise awareness about NCDs, conduct educational sessions, organize workshops, and disseminate information to promote preventive measures and early intervention.
∎ ● NCD Prevention and Control: Actively participates in NCD prevention and control activities including active engagement in organizing campaigns, and supporting initiatives that aim to reduce the burden of NCDs within the community.
∎ ● Surveillance and data collection: Conduct surveillance of risk factors in coordination of respective program personnel, morbidity, and disease-specific mortality related to NCDs. Monitor and record data on NCD prevalence, chronic diseases, and NCD-related indicators within the targeted population.
∎ Regular Responsibilities:
∎ ● Conduct community outreach activities such as health education sessions, group discussions, and awareness-raising campaigns to promote NCD prevention and control.
∎ ● Actively promote the availability of existing NCD services through information sharing to the patients, families and communities. Also carry out individual or in group sensitization meetings in order to alleviate their myths, rumors and difficulties within the scope.
∎ ● Identify people who are at risk of NCDs or have already been diagnosed with NCDs through proper screening with standard checklist including physical examination and routine check-up.
∎ ● Provide health education and counseling to patients and their families on NCD prevention and management, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and other aspects of self-care.
∎ ● Closely monitor the patient’s current health status through regular follow-up visits, and refer to the respective health facility for any emergency conditions to ensure higher levels of care.
∎ ● Ensure care at community level based on the patient’s current health status and facilitate systematic follow up care regarding attendance of clinical appointments, and follow up on referrals made to relevant services aimed at improving the quality of life of patients.
∎ ● Conduct community assessments, identifying the gaps of support needs for patients, including preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitation and palliative care, and ensure timely access to respective support services beyond the project intervention scope.
∎ ● Participate in the creation and maintenance of any material needed for the activities, including facilities and equipment in order to ensure the continuity of services.
∎ ● Support in developing IEC materials, SOP etc. in order to ensure the continuity of services.
∎ ● Mapping and regular updating of formal and informal support services (incl.existing community resources). Assess quality of existing support services, with identification of gaps and share with the team to take further advocacy for an improved culturally appropriate social response.
∎ ● Maintaining records, statistics, files, and reports on all work activities and follow up care either related to NCD intervention. Identifying gaps in the available services and with the team prioritizing and developing plans following the objectives of community based NCD intervention.
∎ ● Will perform any other relevant task assigned by the supervisor or program need.

∎ ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
∎ ● Education:
∎ - Educations affiliated with the regulatory body of the Government of Bangladesh. In addition, candidates should have received training in community health/healthcare, including Non- Communicable Disease (NCD) Or, DMF from The State Medical Faculty of Bangladesh, with valid Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM & DC) registration.
∎ ● Experience: Experience in community-based healthcare, particularly in NCD prevention and management, is desirable.
∎ ● Knowledge: Understanding of non-communicable diseases, risk factors, prevention strategies, and basic treatment options.
∎ ● Language requirements: Fluent in Rohingya/Chittagonian language. Capacity to communicate in Bangla and basic English is an asset.
∎ ● IT Literacy: Conversant in common IT applications
∎ ● Cultural Sensitivity: Respect for cultural practices and sensitivity towards the diverse backgrounds and experiences of individuals in the community.
