Job Responsibilities:
∎ Objectives:
∎ to co-operate with the Head of School, Programme Coordinator(s) and other teachers:
∎ to observe, adopt and practice IB standards
∎ to develop and implement IB programme-specific Units of study and related materials
∎ to deliver inquiry-based and concept-driven learning and teaching practices
∎ to differentiate planning, teaching, learning tasks and assessments to meet the unique learning needs of each student
∎ to provide assessment of, for and as learning
∎ to report learning progress to students through continual feedback and to parents at the end of each Term and/or upon request.
∎ to undertake professional development and/or in-service training to stay current with IB standards and practices and to foster best practices in international education for your subject(s)
∎ to incorporate and deliver STEAM-based learning and teaching for programme units
∎ to plan, collaborate, deliver and assess transdisciplinary / interdisciplinary units, based on a common key concept and theme
∎ to foster and supervise Project-based Learning of UN Sustainable Development Goals ("SDG"), to instill Global Competencies, develop Approaches to Learning skills, and cultivate IB Learner Profile attributes
∎ to develop and deliver experiential co-curricular activities after-school to enhance real life learning opportunities for students
∎ Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations for MYP Teaching of Design
∎ coordinate with other MYP Teachers assigned to teach the various components of MYP Design
∎ prepare MYP units that share a common Key Concept and Global Context among all teachers for each unit
∎ research best practices for delivery of MYP Design for your assigned component - MIT Scratch for coding
∎ link units and instruction to real world applications to provide students with relevance for learning to code
∎ identify contests, events and opportunities for students to demonstrate their coding skills
∎ Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations for MYP Teaching of Maths:
∎ assess prior learning of Math concepts and skills for each student at the beginning and end of the year
∎ identify, prepare, and assess clear learning and teaching objectives in accordance with IB philosophy, practices, and subject scope and sequence standards, consulting with students to optimize learning
∎ create lesson plans by utilizing aligned curriculum standards that informs instruction through formative assessments, differentiating to meet specific learning needs
∎ integrate technology and use instructional media to enhance students' learning experiences
∎ use Math manipulatives to demonstrate new concepts through hands-on learning
∎ establish a safe, secure and supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviours
∎ attend to assigned supervisory, student enhancement or school organizational duties as assigned with diligence and a duty of care
∎ partner and communicate with students and parents to support, guide and share each student's academic growth through assessment, constructive feedback and reports
∎ organize after-school co-curricular activities for students to apply classroom learning in real world contexts, engage in contests, competitions, performances and/or exhibits to showcase student learning and provide opportunities to interact with other students or schools locally, nationally or internationally as appropriate.
∎ Day-to-Day Activities:
∎ demonstrate mastery of related subject content, instructional skills, resource materials and current research to provide cutting-edge, innovative learning and teaching
∎ organize activities and tasks, both in the Library and Media Resource Centre and the Bangla classroom, that are appropriate to the developmental levels, learning styles, and unique learning needs of students
∎ identify Learning Support needs: SEN (special education needs), EAL (English as an additional language), GT (gifted and talented needs), etc. to ensure learning needs are being met through differentiation and/or individual push-in/pull-out support
∎ provide consistent, written, time appropriate feedback for students' submitted work
∎ provide a variety of assessments to inform and drive further planning and instruction
∎ compile and prepare individual student assessments to provide written reports at the end of each Term, or upon request, for parents and the School
∎ maintain an organized, presentable classroom at all times, profiling student work on walls, bulletin boards, windows or other surfaces
∎ participate in staff meetings and co-curricular/school-related activities and committees
∎ commit to continuous professional growth, setting goals and completing training to achieve professional development goals
∎ contribute to the development and evaluation of the School's and IB programme goals and objectives to drive continuous improvement, as and where required
∎ contribute toward IB authorization or evaluation, and any accreditation processes to advance the School's strategic goals, reputation and recognition
∎ cover for absent colleagues as and when required by the school management
∎ inform the Head of School if problems, conflicts, or programme concerns should arise
∎ any other roles and/or duties as assigned by the school management from time to time
