About ALRD
The Association for Land Reform and Development (ALRD) is a rights-based national policy advocacy and networking organisation working on land, access to natural resources linked to land, and human rights in Bangladesh. Established as the successor to the NGO Coordination Council for Land Reform Program (NCCLRP), ALRD works to mobilize grassroots communities and civil society to advance the land and human rights of poor and marginalized communities. ALRD focuses particularly on rural landless people, women, Indigenous Peoples, religious minorities, and other disadvantaged communities. Its work includes policy advocacy and lobbying, building networks and coalitions, community mobilization and capacity development, legal and technical support, research and knowledge management, and media and public engagement. ALRD works through a network of partner organizations, grassroots movements, civil society groups, and other stakeholders across Bangladesh.
ALRD envisions a democratic, secular, pluralistic, and inclusive Bangladesh free of discrimination — one that promotes sustainable development for all citizens, where equality in exercising rights and in the use and control of land and other natural resources is realized for all.
ALRD's mission is to create an enabling environment through which it aims to ensure pro-poor, gender-responsive policy changes in land ownership and climate-resilient natural resource management — inclusive of Indigenous Peoples and other marginalized communities — grounded in the principles of equity and justice, through advocacy and research.
