Responsibilities & Context

A leading knitwear and garment group in Bangladesh, serving top international buyers, seeks a commercially sharp, experienced professional for the position of Deputy Manager/Manager - Merchandising & Marketing (Cotton On Buyer) at its Narayanganj facility. The incumbent will own the complete Cotton On buyer account, from product development and costing to order confirmation, production follow-up, and on-time shipment. The role goes beyond routine order handling: it requires a strong understanding of both Merchandising and Marketing, meaning the ability to present the company's capabilities, build and grow the buyer relationship, win new business, and protect margins while delivering quality and delivery performance. The ideal candidate is a business-minded merchandiser who can lead a merchandising team and act as the single point of contact for the buyer.

A. Buyer Account Management (Cotton On)

  • Own and manage the end-to-end relationship with the Cotton On buying team as the primary point of contact for all commercial, development, and order-related matters.

  • Understand the buyer's seasonal calendar, product range, quality expectations, and sourcing strategy, and align the company's offers accordingly.

  • Maintain regular communication with the buyer on development status, order progress, shipment updates, and issues, with clear and timely responses.

  • Prepare for and coordinate buyer visits, range reviews, factory visits, and meetings.

  • Build long-term trust with the buyer through consistent delivery, transparency, and proactive problem-solving.

B. Marketing and Business Development

  • Drive business growth with the buyer by securing new styles, new categories, and increased order volume.

  • Present the company's capabilities, product range, fabric innovations, and sustainability and compliance strengths to the buyer to win more business.

  • Prepare line presentations, fabric and trims books, and development showcases tailored to each season.

  • Track market trends, competitor offerings, and buyer feedback, and recommend products and strategies to improve the company's share of business.

  • Work with senior management to set account targets, forecast bookings, and plan capacity requirements with the planning team.

C. Product Development and Sampling

  • Receive and review tech packs, specifications, and design briefs, and coordinate with the sample and development teams for timely and accurate samples.

  • Manage the full sample cycle: proto, fit, size set, salesman, PP, and shipment samples, with proper tracking of buyer comments and approvals.

  • Coordinate fabric development, yarn and trims sourcing, lab dips, strike-offs, and print and embroidery approvals.

  • Ensure all development work meets buyer quality standards and is completed within the buyer's timelines.

D. Costing, Pricing, and Negotiation

  • Prepare accurate costings covering fabric, trims, CM, overhead, and profit margin, in coordination with the Costing and IE teams.

  • Lead price negotiations with the buyer to secure profitable orders, with clear cost justification and alternatives.

  • Monitor order profitability from booking to shipment and take action to avoid margin leakage.

  • Review fabric, trims, and CM costs regularly and recommend cost-saving options without compromising quality.

E. Order Management and Execution

  • Receive purchase orders, confirm them with accurate details, and coordinate order booking with the planning team based on capacity and delivery dates.

  • Prepare and monitor the Time and Action (T&A) calendar for every order, and track all critical milestones.

  • Coordinate with Sourcing, Procurement, and the Fabric and Trims teams to ensure timely availability of materials.

  • Follow up closely with Knitting, Dyeing, Cutting, Sewing, Finishing, and Quality teams to keep orders on schedule.

  • Identify delays and risks early, and take corrective action or inform the buyer with a clear recovery plan.

  • Ensure that production, quality, and packing meet buyer instructions for each style and PO.

F. Quality, Compliance, and Shipment

  • Coordinate pre-production meetings, inline and final inspections, and third-party inspections, and ensure timely resolution of any quality issue.

  • Ensure compliance with buyer code of conduct, testing, labeling, and packaging requirements.

  • Coordinate with the Commercial and Shipping teams for documentation, booking, and on-time shipment of every order.

  • Handle claims, rejections, and buyer feedback professionally, with root cause analysis and preventive action.
