∎ Having 1 to 5 years’ working knowledge in use and understanding of Power Distribution System software, such as ETAP, Cyme, or any similar software.
∎ Having knowledge and understanding on Power Distribution System software during academic project or thesis work will be advantageous;
∎ Possessing the ability and proven experience in performing geospatial/ satellite image data analysis using GIS software (such as ArcGIS) will get preference;
∎ Working experiences in creating, updating and analysis of spatial and non-spatial databases using standard GIS and database software and tools, such as MS Access, SQL Server, PostgreSQL etc. will be preferred.
∎ Experience in writing reports, project proposals, article publications, and presentation skills will be considered as plus points.
∎ Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills;
∎ Must have “can-do” attitude with proactive approaches and a positive mindset;
∎ The incumbent must have the mindset and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams;
∎ Must be able to carry out multitasking activities extensive fieldwork, and have a mindset to work under pressure;

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ The Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) is a Public Trust and a center of excellence established by the Government of Bangladesh under the Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR). The working domain of CEGIS spans in the arena of providing intellectual services for Natural Resources Management and planning, System Development, Capacity Building, and Research activities.
∎ CEGIS possesses cutting edge technologies, equipment and software such as high-end drones, photogrammetric workstations, ERDAS Imagine, ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Pro software, the latest RTK GNSS receivers, archives of high-resolution satellite images, national databases, various modeling software, and a pool of multidisciplinary teams, which provides an excellent platform to develop careers in the arena of geospatial and remote sensing technologies.
∎ CEGIS has been implementing a project titled “Development of GIS Based Distribution Network System” of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) in its two Zones (Mymensingh and Chattogram). Under the scope of the project, CEGIS is preparing digital mapping for BPDB’s 24 Sales and Distribution Divisions using high resolution satellite image and drone image and also collecting power distribution system network data (including high precision location data of electric poles), creating GIS based geometric network of the data, integrating the data into power distribution analysis software (ETAP) and initiating analysis of the data. Major objectives of the BPDB GIS project include i) to introduce GIS based mapping for planning, system operation, ii) to enhance power transmission and distribution network capacity of BPDB’s present system and to ensure a healthy system for its stakeholder, iii) to reduce system loss, both technical and non-technical by analyzing data using load flow study software (ETAP). CEGIS will assist BPDB in integrating the Geographic Information System (GIS) data of the power distribution network with the power ETAP database.
∎ CEGIS is looking for young and energetic Electrical Engineers for working under the aforementioned project who will assist GIS Division of CEGIS with various tasks related to the scope of the project activities, especially with quality control of the electrical data and integrating the data into ETAP software.
