Educational Requirements:
∎ Master’s in development studies, Social Science, Economics, Urban Planning, Disaster Management or related field from any reputed university.

Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 8 year(s)

Job Context:
∎ Project Name: UER-III of BDRCS-SRC Partnership Project.
∎ Duty Station: Dhaka (with frequent visit to project area).
∎ Duration of Contract: 1 year (with possibility of extension subject to satisfactory performance and availability of fund).
∎ Reportable To: Urban Coordinator.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Program
∎ Support the urban strategy development course for BDRCS through a consultative process, involving all key movement partners having urban programs.
∎ Develop micro plan/s for rolling out the urban strategy and in coordination with relevant BDRCS departments. Take lead on ensuring the PCM of the programs defined under the urban thematic desk.
∎ Develop tools and guidelines on Urban Risk Assessments, Urban Needs Assessment, developing criteria and standards for urban area selection, Urban DRM curriculums etc.
∎ Support the branches in developing their urban development plan of action. Access and analyze available information on city-level need assessment.
∎ Support BDRCS NHQ and city units in acquiring adequate capacities to address the knowledge gaps related to urban issues.
∎ Act as a file holder for the entire process of staffing under the urban thematic desks. Extend the management support to Urban Coordinator for ensuring effective PCM.
∎ Partnership
∎ Support key BDRCS branches, Councilor, City/ municipality authorities, and relevant government stakeholders for ensuring BDRCS visibility.
∎ Establish partnership with the City Corporation entity for jointly development and implementation of urban development plan.
∎ Coordinate with movement partners on designing and developing urban programs.
∎ Support city-level branches in their engagement with urban local bodies.
∎ Knowledge Management and Advocacy
∎ Engage with existing knowledge platforms to harvest learnings and good practices, and take measures for the units/branches in developing their capacities and urban portfolios. Organize cross-learning events, webinars and talks on key urban issues.
∎ Generate advocacy tools and IEC materials to achieve the advocacy issues identified by BDRCS.
∎ Strengthen coordination and collaboration with the range of actors present in urban settings to reinforce BDRCS’ auxiliary role in the urban sector.
∎ Facilitate effective coordination among the Movement Coordination Group members through developing action plans and by organizing quarterly/Bi-annual/Annual meetings of all partners.
∎ Roll out institutional knowledge management framework to ensure sustainable, scalable and replicable urban resilience programming.
∎ Support dialogue and exchange knowledge with external urban actors on behalf of BDRCS
∎ Organize knowledge management events on urban issues which includes developing case studies on Urban humanitarian, resilience and DRR issues, organizing cross-learning events, webinars and talks on key urban issues.
∎ Organize city level branches in acquiring adequate capacities to address the knowledge gaps and initiate activities that are essential for accessing and analysing available information on city level need assessment and urban development plans.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 45 years
∎ Minimum 8 year of professional experiences in development sector; at least 3 years in the managerial role, and 3 years in urban development.
∎ Knowledge of urban context of Bangladesh with special reference to urban resilience, DRR and CCA.
∎ Knowledge of national policies, issues and legal frameworks related to urban development
∎ Ability to write good quality of reports, policy document, strategic paper in English.
∎ Ability to solve complex problems
∎ Excellent interpersonal skills
∎ Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team environment
∎ Knowledge on local context
∎ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Bangla;
∎ Knowledge of relevant computer packages.
∎ Age limit will be relaxed in case of potential candidates

Salary:
∎ Up to BDT. 85,000 (Consolidated per month).
