Responsibilities & Context
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Assistant Manager – Maintenance (Embroidery Machine) to oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and performance optimization of computerized embroidery machines, particularly Barudan and Tajima. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring smooth machine operation, minimizing downtime, maintaining embroidery quality, and implementing effective preventive and predictive maintenance practices to support uninterrupted production.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise the maintenance, servicing, repair, and troubleshooting of Barudan and Tajima computerized embroidery machines.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and computerized control system faults.
Troubleshoot and repair machine heads, needles, needle bars, hook assemblies, rotary hooks, trimmers, thread-cutting mechanisms, thread tension systems, thread-break sensors, drive motors, and other critical components.
Ensure proper machine timing, synchronization, hoop movement, thread trimming, and stitch formation.
Coordinate with authorized service providers and suppliers for complex technical issues and spare parts support.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules based on machine specifications and production requirements.
Conduct regular inspections, lubrication, cleaning, adjustment, and replacement of worn-out parts.
Respond promptly to machine breakdowns and ensure minimum production interruption.
Maintain maintenance records, breakdown reports, service history, and root-cause analysis reports.
Implement corrective actions to prevent recurring machine failures.
Work closely with Production, Embroidery, Quality, and Industrial Engineering teams to ensure smooth production operations.
Ensure machines are properly set up and calibrated for different embroidery designs, fabrics, and production requirements.
Identify and resolve machine-related embroidery defects, including thread breakage, skipped stitches, uneven stitch formation, thread tension problems, and trimming issues.
Monitor machine utilization, efficiency, downtime, and maintenance-related production losses.
Support production planning during machine installation, changeover, adjustment, and new style introduction.
Maintain an adequate inventory of essential machine spare parts, tools, lubricants, and maintenance consumables.
Monitor spare parts consumption and prepare purchase requisitions based on operational requirements.
Ensure proper storage, issuance, and utilization of spare parts.
Coordinate with suppliers and service providers for sourcing genuine spare parts and technical support.
Control maintenance costs without compromising machine performance or product quality.
Supervise and guide maintenance technicians, mechanics, and electricians assigned to embroidery machines.
Allocate maintenance tasks and monitor the team`s performance and work quality.
Provide technical training to operators and maintenance personnel on basic machine care, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures and electrical safety standards.
Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
Assist in the installation, commissioning, testing, and production handover of new embroidery machines.
Evaluate machine performance and recommend necessary repairs, upgrades, and operational improvements.
Analyze breakdown trends and develop action plans to improve machine reliability and availability.
Support energy efficiency, maintenance cost reduction, and equipment life-extension initiatives.
