∎ Knowledge of Legal Framework in Bangladesh, Human Rights, Gender Equality and Child Marriage Restraint Act, Criminology and Law of Cyber Crimes, Civil and Criminal Procedures, Jurisprudence, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Trial Advocacy, National Advocacy Platforms, and Gender-based violence.
∎ Expertise in SBCC materials development, proposal writing, data management tools and MS Office.
∎ Excellent stakeholder management, capacity building and leadership skills.
∎ Minimum of 8 years of experience (including 3 years in a lead position) in programme/ project management in the Law department or relevant field.

Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Lead strategic planning, budgeting and implementation of legal protection initiatives, focusing on strengthening the public prosecution system and advocating for policy changes to combat child marriage.
∎ Identify and drive legal aid advocacy initiatives, and develop action plans to influence policy changes regarding legal rights, gender-based violence (GBV), and child marriage.
∎ Collaborate with national legal aid actors such as the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA), District Legal Aid Committee (DLAC), National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) etc. and represent SELP at different levels, to government bodies, BRAC management, donors, and other stakeholders.
∎ Oversee the development and adaptation of training materials, executing comprehensive communication plans, and crafting compelling messages and IEC/BCC material for various media channels.
∎ Support cross-functional units and programmes to ensure programme enhancement, visibility, and financial and programmatic sustainability.
∎ Manage Annual Operation Plan, project management and grants, while enhancing staff capacity.
∎ JOB PURPOSE
∎ The Lead of Legal Aid and Policy Advocacy will strategize and execute plans to prevent child marriage and strengthen legal support systems. This role involves advocating for policy changes and providing legal aid for victims of gender-based violence. Collaboration with government and other key stakeholders is vital, as is managing communication strategies and training materials. Furthermore, the Lead will ensure programme growth, financial stability, and staff development.
∎ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

∎ SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote, encourage and endorse the safeguarding policy and implementation standards among team members in case of any reportable incident.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, and encourage others to do so.
