Lead Software Engineer

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline; candidates with a different academic background may be considered if they demonstrate strong technical capability and experience.

• Age 28 to 42 years

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 4 years of professional experience in software development, including responsibility for production business applications.
• Demonstrated experience delivering applications using relational databases, APIs and cloud or hosted deployment environments.

Core Competencies

• Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend stack and a modern frontend framework.
• Practical capability with relational databases, REST APIs, Git, testing, debugging and deployment.
• Sound understanding of application security, access control, data protection, backup and service continuity.
• Strong requirements analysis, problem-solving, technical documentation and delivery planning skills.
• Technical leadership, clear communication and the ability to explain complex choices to non-technical colleagues.

• Uttara Development Program Society (UDPS) is a Bangladesh-based development organization working to improve the living standards of underserved communities through microfinance and other development initiatives.

Position Purpose

• Lead the design, development and reliable operation of UDPS software applications and digital services. The role translates operational needs into secure, maintainable solutions and provides technical leadership for software delivery and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with users and management to understand operational problems and translate them into clear requirements and practical delivery plans.
• Design, build, test, deploy, document and maintain web applications, APIs, integrations and automated workflows.
• Maintain and improve the existing MIS and other production systems, resolving incidents without unnecessary disruption to operations.
• Design reliable data models, queries and reports while protecting data accuracy, access and confidentiality.
• Apply secure coding, role-based access, audit logging, backup, recovery, performance and availability practices.
• Review code and establish practical standards for version control, testing, documentation, releases and incident management.
• Coordinate technical contributors and approved vendors, and communicate progress, risks and technical trade-offs clearly to management.
