Job Context:
∎ Project: Promotion of Climate Resilient Agriculture in the Coastal Landscape of Bangladesh through Integrated Mangrove Based Aquaculture
∎ Introduction: Solidaridad Network Asia, Bangladesh with support from the "The Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited" has planned to implement a project entitled "Promotion of Climate Resilient Agriculture in the Coastal Landscape of Bangladesh through Integrated Mangrove Based Aquaculture" in the Khulna and Satkhira districts following the research for development approach. The goal of the project to restore resilient livelihoods of the coastal aquaculture farmers through integrated mangrove-shrimp farming, thereby contributing to food security and ecosystem services in the context of poverty, delta dynamics and climate change in Bangladesh. To achieve the goal, Solidaridad, in collaboration with the public-private actors, will roll out the implementation of the silvo-aquaculture system to build resilient livelihoods for the small holder shrimp farmers in the coastal areas through integrated water and soil management, mangrove reforestation, and adoption of practices for climate-smart and climate-positive high-quality shrimp farming in the coastal regions of Bangladesh, where Wageningen University & Research (The Netherlands) will provide the technical support. The collaboration will produce results to contribute to the food security, economic gains, and regeneration of eco-system services in the coastal landscape.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Programme Officer is mainly responsible for ensuring effective implementation and management of all the project interventions in the field at Upazila level. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join Solidaridad Network Asia, Bangladesh that contributes from national to international context through market-oriented approach, innovation, evidence and learning. The position will be based in any Upazila of Khulna and Satkhira districts.
∎ The Programme Officer will work under the supervision of Manager - Research & Development and will undertake the tasks and duties to assist him/ the project team. Followings are the key responsibilities:
∎ Stay at Upazila level is mandatory for effective implementation of the project activities,
∎ Development of detailed plan for upazila level project activities.
∎ Preparation and management of budget for the upazila level project activities.
∎ Implementation of the project activities following the plan and track the progresses.
∎ Maintain close collaboration with stakeholders, including small-holder shrimp farmers, local communities, government agencies, NGOs, and other relevant organizations.
∎ Build capacity of the small-holder shrimp farmers, local communities and others following the requirements of the project.
∎ Organize events including workshops, technical sessions, awareness sessions, etc.
∎ Promote practices among the communities to restore and protect the mangroves.
∎ Conduct research to gather relevant data and information related to mangrove and aquaculture integration.
∎ Analyze data using MS office excel, SPSS, R, etc. for informed decision making as needed.
∎ Maintain detailed records of project activities, expenditures, and outcomes.
∎ Prepare reports on monthly, quarterly and annual basis and document the best practices to share with the supervisors.
∎ Facilitate the field visits of donors, higher managements, and other stakeholders as required by the project.
∎ Any other tasks assigned by the authority.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 years' working experience with the INGOs/NGOs/ relevant organizations.
∎ Around 2 years' experience on the "Silvo-aquaculture" related project or relevant research project would be an advantage.
∎ Experienced in writing technical and scientific articles.
∎ Advance knowledge on data analysis using SPSS, R, etc.
∎ Candidate's Competencies & Attributes:
∎ Excellent leadership skill and organizational skills
∎ Have knowledge about MS office word, excel and power point,
∎ Well oriented with the online data collection tools.
∎ Ability to work in a team and contribute to enhance team spirit;
∎ Ability to communicate and negotiate with government and private stakeholders
∎ Proven ability to work in an intercultural environment
∎ Effective and efficient communication skills
∎ Proficient in English language.
