Job Context:
∎ Duration of the contract : 12 months, with possible extension
∎ Reporting to : Country Representative, Swedish Red Cross
∎ The PGI Officer reports to the SweRC Country Representative with a technical reporting line to the SweRC thematic advisor.
∎ Job Purpose:

∎ The PGI officer will work with SweRC and BDRCS teams to enhance services and operations` impact, reach, quality, efficiency, and sustainability by implementing PGI activities and standards. Ensure the target populations` dignity, access, participation, and safety (DAPS). This includes PGI mainstreaming and the creation of an enabling environment (institutional support) within the NS. The PGI officer provides operational capacity including but not limited to identifying protection risks, including child protection and sexual and gender-based violence, and taking action to prevent, mitigate and respond to violence, exploitation, and abuse, including safe, confidential, and referral mechanisms appropriate reporting.
∎ The PGI officer will provide technical support to ensure SweRC-supported programs and operations are mainstreaming PGI throughout and are reaching the gender marker Additionally, they will work with NS sectorial technical staff/advisors to ensure that the targeted programs and operations are implemented following the Red Cross and Red Crescents Minimum Standards for Protection, Gender, and Inclusion and promote the dignity, access, participation, and safety of women, men, girls and boys of all ages and backgrounds.
∎ PGI officer will also collaborate closely and coordinate with RCRC Movement partners as necessary. The position demands flexibility, diplomacy, and the ability to adapt to new priorities.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide technical support when conducting sectorial and protection assessments to identify specific PGI-related needs, concerns, protection risks, and capacities of persons of all gender identities, ages, disabilities, and backgrounds are collected sensitively and safely; are analyzed; findings are documented securely and in coordination with other relevant protection actors.
∎ Design PGI-oriented activities, training materials, session plans for instance, designing awareness-raising material on PGI-related topics such as child protection or domestic violence.
∎ Design and deliver capacity-building activities for NS staff, volunteers, and community members to build understanding and ownership of PGI, support the implementation of the PGI Minimum Standards, reduce PGI risks in the operational environment, and build sustainable local capacity.
∎ Undertake monitoring and provide reporting on the operational context and the protection risks ensuring that prevention, mitigation, and response are targeted and adapted to the changing context, risks, and needs.
∎ Document and share PGI lessons learned, smart practices, and other valuable findings within SweRC and HNS counterparts
∎ Ensure timely, effective, transparent, and accountable support to the SweRC Bangladesh PGI portfolio, including internal and external reporting.
∎ Maintain and consolidate PGI technical working relationships with the BDRCS, within the wider RCRC Movement, and with external stakeholders as requested.
∎ Provide adequate PGI operational and strategic support to BDRCS for greater institutionalization of PGI in all BDRCS programs.
∎ Coordinate with different protection actors and government counterparts in Bangladesh and participate in technical coordination meetings. Connect them with SNSRC / PMO activities for better results and sustainability.
∎ Ensure that best practices related to Protection, Gender, and Inclusion, as well as lessons learned, are captured, exchanged, and promoted through case stories, articles, etc.
∎ Support the RCRC Movement towards a BDRCS PGI integrated and harmonized approach.
∎ Propose specific PGI technical supports to the BDRCS in line with the SweRC available technical and financial resources.
∎ Support to ensure PGI aspects and quality standards in the Swedish Red Cross supported (SNSRC and WASH Cox) projects in coordination with the BDRCS team.
∎ Coach and guide project staff and volunteers on PGI understanding and mainstreaming in the project
∎ Work with other PNSs, the IFRC, and the ICRC to undertake PGI capacity analysis, capacity building and organisational development of the BDRCS.
∎ Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the SweRC Country Representative.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Experience:
∎ At Least four years' experience working on protection, gender, and inclusion issues, mainly focused on child protection and anti-trafficking.
∎ Experience in developing IEC materials and interactive tools that promote dignity, access, participation, and safety, including a proven track record.
∎ Experience in resilience and long-term capacity building working on protection, gender, and inclusion issues.
∎ Experience undertaking protection assessments and working on programs and strategies (including prevention, mitigation, and response to sexual and gender-based violence, human trafficking, and child protection).
∎ Red Cross Red Crescent Movement work experience.
∎ Knowledge and Skills:
∎ Possesses a broad understanding of global humanitarian issues, disaster recovery, and related organizations.
∎ Possesses working knowledge of protection, gender, and diversity issues in humanitarian and development settings, including child protection, sexual- and gender-based violence, human trafficking, early and forced marriage, and disability inclusion, specifically in the context of Bangladesh.
∎ Ability to facilitate training and workshops on technical matters.
∎ Good analytical skills.
∎ Knowledge of project management in a humanitarian or development context.
∎ Skills in developing and enhancing staff capacity.
∎ Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
∎ Ability to work on MS applications, e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
∎ Experience in coaching and transferring skills and knowledge to counterparts.
∎ Languages:
∎ Good spoken and written knowledge of English
∎ Fluent in speaking and writing Bangla
