• Relevant training in denim washing, industrial chemical safety, analytical testing, environmental compliance, or chemical management is desirable.

• Demonstrated experience in laboratory recipe development, bulk production troubleshooting, and chemical quality control.

• Practical knowledge of denim wash effects, enzyme systems, bleaching processes, finishing chemicals, and garment performance testing.

• Experience with buyer approvals, chemical compliance documentation, and production problem-solving is preferred.

• Knowledge of color assessment.

Job Responsibilities:

• 
  Develop innovative denim washing recipes and finishing techniques to achieve approved buyer requirements, reference samples, technical packs, and design concepts.

• Make chemical inventory control, approved chemical verification, SDS management, and applicable MRSL compliance core responsibilities rather than occasional tasks.

• Include specific monitoring of tensile strength, tear strength, seam integrity, and elastane performance where relevant.

• Develop controlled chemical processes for achieving consistent fading, contrast, abrasion, hand feel, color tone, and surface appearance.

• Maintain approved wash recipes, standard operating parameters, reference swatches, and development records for repeat orders.

• Conduct root-cause analysis when a developed wash effect cannot be   reproduced consistently in bulk production.

• Plan and execute laboratory washing trials using approved laboratory equipment and standardized testing procedures.

• Optimize chemical formulations to reduce water consumption, energy consumption, processing time, and chemical loading per garment.

• Prepare, verify, and document chemical solutions, concentrations, stock solutions, and laboratory reagents using approved methods.

• Evaluate incoming chemicals against approved specifications, supplier technical data sheets, certificates of analysis, and applicable internal acceptance criteria.

• Verify chemical identity, appearance, pH, concentration, density, active content, and other relevant activities where applicable.

• Monitor chemical stability, storage conditions, shelf life, batch-to-batch variation, and performance consistency.

• Provide technical guidance to washing operators and production teams during trial runs, pilot production, and bulk processing.

• Monitor first-off and in-process garment samples against approved standards before recommending process continuation or adjustment.

• Troubleshoot production deviations and implement technically justified corrective actions.

• Assess garment shade, wash effect, contrast, surface appearance, hand feel, and finishing quality against approved samples and buyer requirements.

• Coordinate chemical screening, supplier declarations, documentation, and testing through competent laboratories when required.

• Follow applicable requirements associated with relevant chemical-management frameworks and standards, such as updated ZDHC standard, AFIRM RSL, OEKO-TEX, bluesign, or other buyer-specified programs, where adopted by the factory.

• Monitor wastewater treatment, chemical dosing, and discharge quality.

• Quality control laboratory testing and verification of water, chemicals, and process parameters.
