Responsibilities & Context
Company: CARBARN
Industry: Australian Automotive Industry
Employment Type: Full-Time
Working Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
About the Role
We don't hire engineers just to write code. We hire engineers to understand problems, run operations, and build systems that solve them.
At CARBARN, we believe the best engineers are those who understand how the entire business works.
What is a Forward Deployed Engineer?
A Forward Deployed Engineer works directly within business operations rather than developing software in isolation. They understand workflows firsthand, identify problems, and use engineering, AI, and automation to build practical solutions instead of waiting for predefined instructions.
We're looking for a resourceful, technically capable problem-solver who can combine business operations, customer communication, and software engineering.
This is not just a coding job or an operations role. You will do both.
Our philosophy: Understand the work. Do the work. Improve the work. Automate the work.
Key Responsibilities
Manage customer enquiries, emails, social media activities, and daily business operations.
Understand workflows across sales, marketing, customer communication, and operations.
Identify inefficiencies and develop AI agents, scripts, and automation tools to improve processes.
Integrate APIs, databases, and third-party platforms to streamline business workflows.
Troubleshoot systems, research solutions independently, and take ownership of improvements from idea to implementation.
Technical Skills & Requirements
Background in CSE, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and ability to learn independently.
Practical programming skills, including the ability to build, debug, and understand software systems.
Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot for backend development, React and Next.js for frontend applications, and Python for prototyping, testing, and automation.
Understanding of AI tools, LLMs, AI agents, APIs, databases, and automation workflows.
Excellent written English for communicating with Australian customers.
Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable handling both business operations and engineering tasks.
You don't need to master every technology. CARBARN actively invests in AI tools and gives engineers the flexibility to experiment, choose their own approaches, and build practical solutions that work.
