Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or equivalent work experience in a professional environment.
Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 2 year(s)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Plan, design, select and organize visual elements to create materials intended to communicate specific messages that are functional, creative and innovative, according to the priorities set by the supervisor and CIMMYT
∎ Efficiently manage personal time, creating timelines for project production (start dates, interim deadlines and final deadline) in order to establish realistic client expectations and increase internal communications on progress.
∎ Research and analyze design software in order to match artwork to appropriate programs (mostly within Abobe Suite), creating greater efficiency in the execution of the assigned projects.
∎ Connect and maintain a reliable database and team of local vendors, including printers, photographers, videographers, etc., that deliver high quality work at reasonable costs.
∎ Liaise with CIMMYT's Corporate Communications Creative Services Unit for assistance as needed.
∎ Design and lead the production process for printed and electronic publications, and create graphic content for digital/web-based products and graphic content for videos or other multimedia products.
∎ Design new, innovative graphics, info-graphics, and creative proposals the various corporate and project needs. Participate in the design of web pages and create images as required.
∎ Create/recreate illustrations such as photo illustrations, charts, graphs, maps, drawings and scientific illustrations for publications and scientific articles to be published.
∎ Design PowerPoint, Presi or other presentations for scientists, applying pre-determined brand standards for CIMMYT and/or CSISA
∎ Carry out any other activities as assigned by the supervisors.
Additional Requirements:
∎ 2+ years' demonstrated working experience in design and print production
∎ Thorough knowledge of the creative/design field and advanced knowledge of specialized equipment.
∎ Advanced knowledge of MAC- and Windows-based operating systems and specialized software such as Microsoft Office, Acrobat, PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign and Flash. Knowledge of Adobe Publisher, Premier Pro and After Effects are a plus, but not required.
∎ Demonstrated competencies and a portfolio of products that were previously designed using the above suites of software
∎ Ability to communicate and relate effectively with others.
∎ Ability to analyze data, situations or problems, evaluate possible courses of action and choose appropriate responses.
∎ In consultation with the supervisors, manage workflows workflow and outputs to meet deliverable schedules.
