Educational Requirements:
∎ Master's degree in social sciences, preferably with a focus on rural development, marketing, business, gender studies, workforce development, and/or social inclusion.

Job Context:
∎ The position will be based in either in Dhaka or Bogura. The person will be mostly working for the Second Phase of the CSISA MI Project to support market and business development activities. In particular, these activities will focus on the growth and and development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) engaged in machinery and spare part manufacturing. Given the structure of market system for machinery manufacturing by SMEs, a strong focus will be placed on machinery production in support of smallholder agriculture in Bangladesh. Research and development activities will include various gender aspects which are present at different levels in the market system (e.g. household decision making, SME relations with labour).
∎ The position is for Bangladesh Nationals for an initial fixed-term contract of 3 years, with a three-month initial probationary period, after which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds. Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support the planning, coordination, implementation and supervision of field research on inclusive business development related to maize- and wheat-based value chains, market development for light engineering agricultural manufacturing, service provision (extension), mostly in Bogura and Jashore.
∎ Provide engineering Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Training (TVET) to build skills of SME owners and their workforce.
∎ Undertake critical reviews of existing research and tools for inclusive business and value chain development in agriculture mechanization and related market development for agricultural services and lightweight engineering industries.
∎ Support in the administration and management of inclusive business and market systems related activities and contribute to the elaboration of high-quality research outputs.
∎ Work with project leaders and team members to pilot and scale the gender-inclusive and pro-poor business and entrepreneurship models and carry out the project monitoring and evaluation according to the results framework.
∎ Assume responsibility for effective gender and youth integration throughout the multiple dimensions of the project, including innovations for fostering commercial engagement between SMEs and farmers.
∎ Provide support in data and information management related to inclusive business development in CIMMYT's portfolio in the region.
∎ Work closely with the project management team to support the MEL and Communication activities related to business and value chain development around light engineering industries, local service provision and farmer uptake (and related benefits and costs).
∎ Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Additional Requirements:
∎ We are seeking candidates with the following qualification, skills and attitudes:
∎ Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience working on business development, value chains, social inclusion, preferably in relation to agriculture, rural development, industry liaison, manufacturing extension.
∎ Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
∎ Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative approaches to social science research.
∎ Strong analytical skills and experience in conducting literature reviews.
∎ Experience with project management, including administrative responsibilities is an asset.
∎ Systematic, well-organized, dependable and with high degree of initiative and sense of responsibility.
∎ Thinking challenge: Complexity of thinking needed:
∎ Ability to analyse complex data, carry out and explain computations or to resolve complex problems.
∎ Identifying options based on research and consideration of their consequences.

∎ Complex use of Simple systems
