Unit Head, Stressed Asset Management Unit (SAMU) - IRM Division (VP-SVP)

Graduation or Post-Graduation in BBA, MBA, Commerce, or a relevant discipline from a UGC-approved local or reputable foreign university will be preferred;

Qualification & Other Competencies: 

• Minimum 12-15 years of banking experience with a proven track record in Credit/Investment Risk Management or related areas. It can be relaxed in case of exceptional qualification or demonstrated capacity;

• Strong business acumen, analytical ability, and sound decision-making capacity;

• Relevant professional qualifications in banking and Islamic finance:

• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills;

• Should possess a proactive and client-centric approach, and be capable of working under pressure. 

Provide senior leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for the investment risk portfolio of stressed clients in line with the bank’s risk appetite, Shariah principles, and regulatory requirements. Ensure proper monitoring and timely repayment of investments and risk mitigations for approvals. Act as a key decision-maker on Stressed Asset Management Unit under IRM Division.

He is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and managing stressed Investment accounts to minimize investment losses and improve recovery performance. The role involves close coordination with borrowers, legal teams, and branch management to develop recovery strategies and ensure regulatory compliance.

1. Investment proposal Review: Oversee investment proposals, Review Investment appraisals cover business viability, cash flow, projected profitability, collateral, risk mitigants, and Shariah-compliance aspects.

2. Stressed Investment Monitoring: Track repayment behavior, overdue trends, support early warning detection by monitoring triggers as outlined in Early Warning policy.

3. Recovery Drive: Monitor stressed accounts, arranging meeting to develop restructuring and smart action recovery plans for those accounts. Pursue the Branches for reduction of exposure from the stressed investment clients. Visit customer premises as and when required.

4. Analytical Skill: Financial modelling, valuation, market/economic analysis and data-driven decision making.

5. Governance / Committees: Participate in Investment Committee to decide on facility approvals, escalations, and exceptions. Guide Team to ensure proper documentation for Investment decisions, approvals, and risk justifications.

6. Team Leadership & Capacity Building: Lead, mentor, and train a team of Investment risk analysts focused on Corporates and stressed customers. Develop capacity-building programs, risk training, and Shariah risk-awareness for the team. Promote best practices, continuous improvement, and innovation in Investment risk assessment for Corporates.

7. Regulatory & Shariah Compliance: Ensure all Corporate Investment risk operations complying with Bangladesh Bank regulations, Work with the Shariah Supervisory Board / Shariah department to ensure the risk models, policies, and Investment structures adhere to Islamic finance principles.

8. Integrity: Demonstrated high standards of professional ethics, confidentiality, transparency, and effective conflict-of-interest management.
