Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Check & secure your position at the checking desk assigned by the airport authority.
∎ Greet passengers appropriately salam, Good Morning as may be applicable and make eye contact with passenger.
∎ Check the departure contrail system (DCS) as to its functionality.
∎ Check passenger manifest sent by central reservation.
∎ Check special needs passengers; VIP, CIP, Wheel Chairs etc and make appropriate arrangements. As a ground service staff can also include arranging wheel chair or other transport like buggy to the departure gate for mobility impaired or disabled passengers. You may also process, safe guard and supervise unaccompanied minors.
∎ Check passenger ticket, ID Card, passport, visa and ensure all are valid. (Any doubt in documents refer the matter to supervisor).
∎ Issue boarding pass & mark his seat number & boarding gate by circling them so that passengers is sure about his seat number and boarding gate. Once checked in passenger to be requested to move for immigration & security check. Once at the boarding gate making appropriate Boarding announcement, verifying documents and conducting final passenger screening. They also provide the final passenger manifest and custom documents, trim sheet to the aircraft crew.
∎ Before that see whether the passenger has been assigned with Seat by reservation.
∎ Assist passengers with their baggage check in. The check in staff tag and process the checked in baggage and make sure that cabin baggage conforms to regulated size, weight and content. The check in staff may also require communicating all information pertinent to flights to the passengers.
∎ Ensure passenger not carrying any liquid flammable items and items which are prohibited and shown in his tickets.
∎ RAMP Handling. Ground staff also man the ramp to inspect the aircraft, marshalling, loading of cargo and passenger baggage.
∎ Wear uniform clean & well pressed.
∎ Use ball points/pen that actually work to avoid embarrassment.
∎ Check your body odor while serving your passengers.
∎ Hand over items like boarding pass, tickets itinerary the way passengers want to receive them.
