∎ Job Summary: The person, Manager-Communication, will work under the supervision of Country Director of ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB) to identify relevant communication tools to raise profile in terms of audience engagement, profile building and brand development of AAB. The post holder will tell the story of the ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB) to its intended audiences using the most effective and impactful approaches and platforms. She/he will play an active role to oversee external and internal communications for ActionAid Bangladesh.
∎ S/he will develop and implement the Communication Strategy for AAB. Moreover, S/he is expected to develop textual and visual contents. Likewise, S/he will promote Promotion of AAB Profile and Brand Nationally and Internationally by online (digital platforms) and offline (Mass Media). In this connection, S/he will orient and train the organization`s staff on communication, public relation, branding and content issue.
∎ Relationships: The person holds this position will be directly reportable to Country Director of ActionAid Bangladesh. . S/He has to maintain functional relationship with his/her peers, greater programme team including project teams under PPC Directorate and organization`s priority teams. S/He must be able to communicate with other teams and units both programme and operational.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Key responsibilities include (not limited to):
∎ Plan, design and execute with Country Director the Communication Strategy to engage external and internal audiences to promote the brands of ActionAid Bangladesh;
∎ Play an active role to oversee external and internal communications by identifying key stakeholders;
∎ Liaise with national and communications teams, brand team, digital and social media team to promote the brand and activities of AAB;
∎ Ensure effective internal and external communications according to the AAB brand and standards;
∎ Develop the media communication strategy and plan for the programmes, projects, and events;
∎ Nurture the relationship with the press to mobilize it as and Design content for a proactive media campaign and reactive media communications and execute media campaigns of the organization;
∎ Organize media events for the organization, in collaboration with the programme team/s, of organizational priorities and work on related media coverage;
∎ Generate media contents (Press Kit, Press Invitation, Press Release & press related documents);
∎ Develop and maintain media database & communication;
∎ Develop a suite of content, written and audio-visual, that is of high-quality, relevant and interesting to a variety of external and internal audiences, for multiple online and offline channels;
∎ Plan and review extern and internal communications contents to promote on various platforms;
∎ Manage & use digital media, including social, to disseminate AAB's work, strategy, and key messages;
∎ Use a variety of tools, techniques to write, produce and disseminate communication materials;
∎ Play an active role to disseminate the contents/products through proper channels;
∎ Work with Country EFAST team as a communication focal person. Develop SitRep, share across the organization and with ActionAid International Communication team;
∎ Prepare/collect/edit emergency communication materials, i.e. case study, report, article, etc;
∎ Assess needs of Progs., Projects and Functions about the capacity building related to communication, branding and other issues;
∎ Develop the training guidelines and facilitate the training.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Good leadership qualities and administrative capabilities
∎ Must be an excellent team player and experience of managing a diverse team
∎ Training on professional writing, i.e. media reporting, media article, case study/story, press release, content writing, etc.
∎ Training or experience in photography and videography will be an added advantage.
∎ Experience
∎ At least 5/6 years of professional experience in communication in a reputed organisation; experience of working in reputed media house/s will be an added advantage.
∎ Required Competencies
∎ Communication and report writing skills both in English and Bengali
∎ Strong capacity in storytelling, branding and promotion
∎ Hands on knowledge in photography and videography
∎ Strong analytical skills and ability to develop a visual representation ?
∎ Able to take a decision in a timely manner, prioritize and multi-task work seamlessly
∎ Good skill in negotiation, motivational, team-building skills
