Job Context:
∎ The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a not for profit organization established in 1996 to develop a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities. CDD simultaneously builds technical capacities of the development stakeholders and the communities in how to be more inclusive whilst also enabling persons with a disability to participate in society by strengthening their leadership and providing them with essential rehabilitation and other supports.
∎ CDD is one of the most renowned organizations in the field of disability-inclusive development. CDD`s work in Bangladesh is supported by international and national donor agencies/development partners. CDD offers an inclusive, amicable, and respectable work environment.
∎ The Ramon Magsaysay Award (Asian version of the Noble prize) has been awarded to its Executive Director in 2010. In 2018, CDD was recognized by the Government of Bangladesh as one of the best organizations working on disability and development issues.
∎ CDD is accepting application under the project named `Shobai Miley Shikhi Activity (SMSA)`, funded by USAID and supported by RTI International.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Primarily identify and prepare the list of children with disabilities in the respective schools and communities of the project areas.
∎ Facilitate the enrollment and inclusion of children with disabilities in government primary schools
∎ Monitor and follow up on the progress of children with disabilities in school performance
∎ In consultation and coordination with SCO, correspondence with UEO, AUEO, URC Instructor, and USSO for mobilizing education support needs and social protections.
∎ Organize joint school visits with the UEO, AUEO, and URC Instructors
∎ Attend monthly HT coordination meetings at upazila level and discuss the rights protection facilities and IE interventions
∎ Maintain regular communication with school teachers, SMCs, PTA members, etc. to determine whether children with disabilities need any additional home or school-based support.
∎ Rapport building with school management committees (SMC) and engage them with various awareness-raising and capacity-strengthening initiatives on inclusive education.
∎ Steer meetings, workshops, and dialogues with school teachers to better support children with disabilities engaging in co-curricular activities at schools and communities.
∎ Maintain and update the database of children with disabilities already enrolled in schools and those who have dropped out or been excluded from primary education.
∎ Facilitate home, community, and school-based learning for children with disabilities and foster peer support to enhance their meaningful participation at the school and community level.
∎ Regular communication and collaboration with school authorities to provide technical support on inclusive infrastructure and classroom management.
∎ Facilitate the regular participation of the parents of children with disabilities in various meetings held in the schools to discuss relevant issues and promote inclusive education in the communities.
∎ Regular home visits of the learners with disabilities and involve their caregivers and parents to monitor the learning progress informally at home.
∎ Organize numerous community-based awareness-raising sessions in the communities through courtyard meeting
∎ Work closely with local government institutions, particularly the union parishads and municipalities to advocate for ensuring the support of social protection for children with disabilities.
∎ Connect children with disabilities and their families with potential sources to access health care, rehabilitation, assistive device, and other priority referral services in the communities.
∎ Field coordination, progress report, weekly/monthly action plan development, maintenance of time sheet, and daily record keeping of field activities.
∎ Assist the project management unit with any other relevant tasks assigned by the authority.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 22 to 45 years
∎ Minimum 4 years experiences in the field of education
∎ Prior working experiences in government primary schools/education and surrounding communities in the rural and semi-urban context
∎ Experience in working with self-help groups and organizations of persons with disabilities
∎ Strong inter-personal communication skills
∎ Experience in organizing and facilitating training, workshop, and meeting at the local level
∎ Ability to collaborate, a willingness to innovate, and an ability to think systematically
∎ A proven ability to achieve concrete results under the constraints
∎ Candidates will have computer literacy and functional knowledge of tablets / smartphones
∎ Familiarity with the IT-based reporting is an asset
∎ Oral and written fluency in Bangla is required. A working knowledge of English is preferred.
∎ Willingness to undertake extensive field trip
∎ Prepared to work for long hours in case of emergency
∎ Willingness to stay at remote areas
∎ The position is open to Bangladeshi nationals only.

Salary: Tk. 42000 (Monthly)
